hushpower
The white bits may or may not help but it certainly seems to have made a difference for me. Did it just to see if they would show an extra interest at seeing small bits of white movement from a distance. All the experts say it's the white on the necks and wings that attract them in so just thought why not try. I've also got solid matt black decoys with the white bits in the usual places.Convinced these work better in low light conditions and on certain backgrounds.Patent pending! The Essex Hunter
I am going to paint a head, beak and eyes on my rotary. What about the umbrella (sorry I meant flat cap) Will it fit on the arm? TEH
Bazooka
Sounds like nonsense to me. The idea of the rotary sounded like nonsense many years ago as well. The idea of tricking pigeon to land using plastic lookalikes was also nonesense. Dip your rotary arms in chrome mate for me and fix balloons as flappers. In a field of almost static decoys the white flashing points are extremely attractive to birds at long range.Attracting their attention is what it's all about, once they get in for a closer look your stealth and pattern should do the rest. The shape of your decoys will help and black decoys really help to define shape in poor light and soil backgrounds. I don't think the wheel needs re-inventing. I'm quite happy with my conventional way of doing things and i'll leave bizarre techniques alone. Leave all those spare pigeons for me then I'm not "re-inventing" anything mate.Bet you still use a pigs bladder as a johnny do you? The white paint is a very specific make, as is the matt black for the decoys. Just before you go plastering Crown Solo everywhere. activeviii
Sloppy mud, just rub it onto the arms and body. Let it dry and then add more. Been working for me for a long time
tignme
Clever pigeons down south, they can tell the difference between shiny tin cans and rotary arms and the difference between batteries and a lump of mud.
woodpigeon100
I take 100ml water in pop bottle and shaving brush - mix a bit of mud to cream and paint whirly ever time I use it.Takes 30 seconds and is totaly matt.

I tell you what Motty why don't some of these guys leave the magnets at home, all this painting, rapping round tape, sanding the arms down, spraying prima on and whatever seems like a lot of hard work to me. I have never touched mine since the day somebody gave me his a few years ago .We have had days where they had tried to land on the magnet on bright clear days and flair off on dull days and vice a versa so quite honestly I don't think it makes a scrape of difference, what do make a difference is knowing when and where to put it out in the first place.
