rtaylor
Has anyone got a pair of the Rydale neoprene lined wellies and are they any good? My Seeland one haven't even lasted a year so I'm not getting another pair of them. I don't really want to splash out on some Le Chameau because I've had some in the past and they didn't last that well for the money.

rabbiter
yes,as it happens,i bought a pair last month, the ones with the side zip gusset, pleased with them up to now,ok for £60......
rtaylor
Yeah it is Yorkshire Trading. So what would you recommend? I used to work in John Norris so I know what comes back from returns. And Aigle and Chameau have plenty of faults, paying of the name as usual. Harkila are out of my price range and seem really heavy. Hunters are ****. Any reviews on the Seal ones?
poorpeet
I bought some Goodyear Stream wellies. Still early days but seem very well made and they are certainly comfortable.
Paul T
Have a look at the Toggi Wanderer Esprit from Uttings. I looked at Hunter; Seeland etc and ended up with these. They seem to rock all the boxes so far.

AberFowl
I have had a few pairs of various wellys over the years, all live a hard life shooting, dog walking and often while on building site working through winter... These grub boots I have now have lasted just as well as the hunters and chameau ones I had before..the hardest wearing I had were Dunlop but they were far too cold! For the money I would go with grub boots. Muck boots were pretty good. Chameau and hunters I think were overpriced..look good stood at a peg but if you are actually walking around in them i wouldn't bother Edited November 30, 2014 by AberFowl

Tim1981
I brought a pair of rydale wellies last year from a show ! One of the wellies ripped away at the seam and leaked after a short period of normal use ! Rang up and they sent a new pair so customer service was good ! This pair have been fine and they fit well and are comfy ! I only use them for the horse and walking the dog now , I brought a pair of muck boot wellies for shooting ! In my opinion they are good for general use, but hardcore use out in the rough stuff, they lack a bit of quality ! I paid £65 for a new pair of muck boot wellies , if u can just spend that bit more it would be well worth it !

psycho
Grubbs Grubs Snowline 8.5 they are warm as toast even on the coldest night and have vibram soles--- superb wellies out in mine this evening 4 inches of mud, cold wrapped up my feet felt good Edited November 30, 2014 by psycho
Davyo
Seeland failed 10mths,Musto failed 7 wks, Hunters failed 12wks.Chameau Zip came off in my hand & the replacement pair leaked within a week through the base of the zip.Back to muck boots but to be honest their quality is starting to slip & the vibrum soles are like wearing roller blades on wet concrete. All theses top manufactures are now taking us all for a ride, any reputable retailer will no longer stock Hunters due to the quality issues( out sourced to cheap labour and cheap components) .They are all obviously doing the same but still want stupid monies for something that quality wise is no better that a pair of Aldi placka neds. So the Rydales will give you a better return you can bet on that. Edited December 1, 2014 by Davyo
Duckman91
I have had a pair if the rydale neoprene lined ones which were £40 I think and for the money I can't complain. The are dry, warm and comfortable.
bruno22rf
I have a pair of Hunters bought in 1998 and still going strong-bought my daughter a pair 2 years ago and they have already fallen apart.
brett1985
buckler buck boots. neoprene topped, and comfy as hell. 4th season in and they are still like new. only problem is being neoprene topped, if you need to walk through a deep stream they soak up water like a sponge. feet still stay dry though... hoggysreels
Getting back to the OP thread ...l have found Ryedale products to have always exceeded their price, ability wise ... my wife has Ryedale neoprene wellies ... well worth their price .. Ryedale tweed products are frankly excellent value ... I've a tweed jacket that comes with a middle waterproof lining, and l've been out shooting on days where its never stopped. Held out the rain better than my wax jackets. Absolute bargain ... their sizing can be on the generous side! lts rare to buy items that are competatively priced, perform extremely well, doesn't fall to pieces when used in the field and is made in England
rtaylor
Cheers for the replies guys. Think I might go for them. I've had some of Rydales other stuff in the past and it has been fine. I know what you mean about the sizing.
crowdie2013
In the same prediciment~ have bought mucks, Barbour and hunter in last 3 seasons and all knackered. I've resorted to a couple of plastic bags per foot until I find a deal but thinking of just getting a cheapish pair as expensive ones just haven't lasted
Silver fox
I purchased a pair of these boots after admiring the pair my friend bought. The first time I wore them they were punctured by a bramble thorn at shin height and both boots were wet on the inside by the end of the day due I think to perspiration, which is not something I normally suffer from. The next time I wore them beating the temperature was -5 deg when we set out and rose to +5 later on. Again, both boots were wet on the inside. Clearly 5mm neoprene is too thick for our climate if you propose to walk any distance in these boots. Having said that, I guess if you are only walking a short distance to a hide and just sitting there, then they are probably ok. I wore them again yesterday and the left boot started to leak with no visible sign of a puncture. I spoke to my friend about his boots yesterday and his have now punctured twice and the straps on the top of the boots have pulled off. On the plus side, the sole pattern provides a good grip, whilst the ankle support is very good. Overall, however, I do not think they are fit for purpose, particularly comparing them to my previous pair of neoprene wellies that I have worn dog walking, shooting and beating for 11 years and which have never punctured and never made my socks wet from perspiration.
