JDog
On one estate near to Moreton in Marsh there are two blocks of rape made up of several fields in each block. They are separated by half a mile. I know the pigeon habits around these fields - one shot in one area then they all disappear over to the other area. I have just got back from a look-see and there are quite a few birds using both areas, maybe as many as 300 or so. Tomorrow 27th I will need someone to set up in one of the areas whilst I go into the other to see if the pigeons can be batted back and forth. In the unlikely event that anyone is interested in coming out with me please send a pm. There are several conditions attached, firstly they must have their own kit and 4x4, secondly they must be local as I may cancel in the morning and thirdly the weather conditions have to be good. The snow may not get here but a decent wind is essential. I will not be going unless there is a good wind. Please no replies stating 'I wish I was closer' or 'the Xmas sales are on' or any other lame excuses.
fenboy
Good luck , I wish ---------- I am going to have a go for some pigeon tomorrow as a friend wants to have a go and I rarely get to shoot with him , conditions look far from favourable though and I am expecting little if nothing !. I can comply with one of your conditions , I have got my own kit, but apart from that one that tick your requirements that's about it , although my car goes most places a 4 x 4 go and I only live 4 1/2 hours away , well maybe 4 hours if I got a move on , so its most probably a no no. Good luck to you Mr JDog and the lucky person who might be going with you ...........A very good and kind offer..........All the best....M M

JDog
There were no takers for this outing much to my disappointment. Perhaps word has got round about my poor field craft, lack of pigeons on my ground or my poor shooting. However I did go and have a look to see what might have been missed. Yesterday's estimate of 300 pigeons was wildly out - there were 500 at least feeding voraciously and when I walked them off sure enough they spiralled into the sky and went half a mile to the other block of rape. None came back to the original fields so I went and watched the other fields. The same number were all down feeding. This was a missed opportunity as weather conditions were perfect being overcast with a strong wind. Another time I will have to round up the 'usual suspects'. ditchman
perhaps with your "surfit" of faded blue serge "y" fronts ...you could have spared a brace to put on and old magnet....that might well have scared them off.....

fenboy
I thought your outing would be snowed / rained off JDog you did well to escape the worst of the weather .
Dirty Harry
Would a gas powered crow banger work for you in this situation!
hawkfanz
you need to move closer to me jd I,d always be up for it..
JDog
I have just had another look at those fields and the same 500 were feeding strongly. A banger might work in moving them on but I have always been reluctant to use them. If I can get some of the usual suspects out of bed next Friday/Saturday I will have a go there and report back. Fenboy, weather conditions were so perfect it was not true. A missed opportunity. Hawkfanz, I would love to take you out but moving to sunny Lancashire would not be an option. activeviii
Once again, a very kind offer JD, i would love to do that. Can I sit up wind of him though please. I'm taking a pw member out tomorrow so he can have a few pigeons for his daughter as she like wild foods. I even took another member starting on tueday, I was very nice to him and after he pulled the trigger I let him to drag it 3 fields and a wood. So I'm starting to get out a little more
