Martin Mere day out with camera

Well today I headed to Martin Mere with my girlfriend to try and get a few pictures of wildfowl; I ended up with 419 pictures for the day... it has been incredibly hard trying to single a few out to post on here and what has made it even harder is the fact I shot in raw for the first time and couldn't actually view them on my laptop...after a while Of tinkering I managed to individually slowly convert selected images in to jpegs which I then put on my phone to do this post with. Haha so quite eventful (I'll stick to jpeg on camera for next time).

Anyway I do hope you like what I have taken, and I appoligise if there are too many lol, but as I've said it's difficult to narrow 419 down haha!IMG_7080_zpshrtgyyuo.jpgIMG_7082_zpsntvhjr9w.jpgIMG_7091_zpswl8zqbdo.jpgIMG_7110_zpsimwhvfds.jpgIMG_7103_zpsufww5zwl.jpgIMG_7133_zpsf09xra93.jpgIMG_7301_zps4ao3jtpt.jpgIMG_7386_zpsvolambfn.jpg[/urlIMG_7379_zps6e7x2jid.jpgIMG_7385_zpsqkarnv6x.jpgIMG_7423_zpscoupgwen.jpgIMG_7454_zps64guzbvj.jpg[/urlIMG_7463_zpssvqp2qj5.jpgIMG_7472_zpsatqcokr9.jpgIMG_7533_zpsiwktr7lf.jpgIMG_7510_zpsjmslrdso.jpg

Well done Dave, that new lens is really starting to pay dividends. :good:

As for the RAW thing...stick with it.

Download a RAW converter (Adobe Camera RAW is free) and you'll never want to use jpeg again. It's a non destructive editing system and the amount of detail you can gain from an image is incredible.

Thank you for those comments chaps :) I'm pleased you all like them.

I'm really enjoying the new lens thanks poontang 👍

as for the pintail, there were quite a few just in front if the hide i was in and having only ever shot 1 in the past few years whilst shooting took advantage of them being so close and got a few good close ups :)

Poontang I'll look in to Adobe camera raw thank you for that I would like to shoot raw but the hassle I went through just isn't worth it I dontt think so thank you for the suggestion

Atb Dave.

Dave, I went to a local creek last week and the weather was poor, very overcast, no light and very windy. I took a few shots of a couple of Redshank feeding in the mud.

They're not great pics but the first one is straight from camera and the second is after half a minutes editing.

I think the difference is plain to see? Persevere and you won't regret it. :good:

Wow! That really is awesome tbh PT I'll look into this adobe programme cheers again !

Also what set up are you using mate?

That was taken on a Pentax K-50 with a Sigma 150-500 lens (at 500mm).

Downloaded straight into Lightroom, edited in RAW and then uploaded to Photobucket as a jpeg. Like I said it's not a great photo, but it does illustrate what can be done in a minute or two. Nothing will beat having good natural light but using RAW can be the difference between keeping or losing an image.

A few years ago we went on a family day out to Martin Mere and were in a hide packed with camera men in camo gear (why ?) when my lad who was about 8 at the time piped up in a loud voice "hey Dad, I bet you could shoot all of those if you had your gun with you" We laughed but the atmosphere was more than a little frosty to say the least afer that

Great pics :good:

Martin Mere is a great place to go, I shoot about half a mile from there as the crow or goose fly. Witnessed thousands of pinks lifting off to their feeding grounds this morning, amazing.

oh cool!👍
