Scrumbag
All, I was talking to a shooting buddy who was saying he fancied a SxS. One of the things was discussed was what can you buy that will do the following currently: Steel shot capable Multi choke (Seems you might need multis to make the most out of steel shot for duck shooting) 2.75” Chambers Double trigger Not costing the earth Anyone got any ideas? ATB, Scrummy
Guest cookoff013
whatever you get, try and get atleast 3" and multichoke.
Underdog
Good question! Those stack barrelled rafter stocked things have ruined the choice!
fenboy
A slim choice , have a look at the Zabala's as said if he seriously wants to shoot steel then he will need a 3" chamber or he will be too limited on shot size / load weight. littlerob
Yeldiz do some nice sxs have a look at the wildfowler one
MrPhantom
The Fabarm Classis range are nice, although single trigger. Always wanted one - steel shot capable and multichoke. At £1500+ second hand they could be over budget?
dougall
Fausti or AYA?
Tim Kelly
I suppose the beretta is an obvious choice. Just seems a bit phony to me.
Fuji Shooter
Had a go with the Yildiz Wildfowler a while back, very nice for the money but it was a single trigger and 30" barrel
neutron619
Yeldiz do some nice sxs have a look at the wildfowler one +1. I think the model name is "A3-T".
bostonmick
I suppose the beretta is an obvious choice. Just seems a bit phony to me. Can you elaborate on why a gun produced by the world's oldest established gun makers would be considered as phoney.?
DaveT
More modern zabala with multi choke are single trigger, I suppose you could find an older one with 3" chambers and have multi chokes added?
Guest cookoff013
Can you elaborate on why a gun produced by the world's oldest established gun makers would be considered as phoney.? i looked into the silverhawk ages ago, there has been some issues with the sst, i opted for the cheaper merkel 47E instead, and i`m delighted. the merkel is not that "steel" friendly, as the chokes are tight, even the open chokes are tight. they are fixed too. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=58683 i`m of the opinion that guns like these are fantastic, but not without its drawbacks. shooting 1500fps in a light gun is going to be painful whatever it is. i got in to reloading along time ago when shells in my local area dried up. the next dealers over the boarder cost twice as much. i basicly ended up reloading for this, a good game gun and some high quality reloads in #2 and #4 at 1000fps (@2.5M) are delightful, low recoil and can take game at exceptional distance. now, as the steel shot issue becomes a big issue, i doubt if a merkel will fit the bill. they can be multi-choked, if i ever get to the point to have to use nontoxic, i`d go for the soft stuff. Tim Kelly
Can you elaborate on why a gun produced by the world's oldest established gun makers would be considered as phoney.? Just because it seems more like an OU with the barrels on sideways. A leaf spring boxlock somehow feels like a side by side should but a beretta action, usually single trigger and often pistol gripped, just doesn't feel quite right to me. I'm certain they're excellent guns, but just seem a bit phoney to me. Your mileage may vary of course!
MAB1954
I have a Zabala 3" chambers, steel proof, multi choke, ejector but with a single trigger. These are fine guns in my opinion and will not break the bank. With 2.75" chambers you will be a bit limited for steel loads I think, plus you have to decide if you could live with a single trigger. So Zabala tick some of your boxes not sure what else is out there, Good luck.
blasterjudd
+1 I also have a Zabala great guns Mines a 20g but also a single trigger and very reliable. You will struggle to find a new sxs with 2 triggers they are few and far between unless you have 1000s to spend ??
Bluebarrels
http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/306825-zabala-mc-12-gauge/ Check the link out above ,single trigger, little cosmetic damage but for the asking price (even with RFD fees its a steal) I have the same gun, must be nearing 30k carts through it and still going strong BB http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/AYA_Shotgun_Wildfowl-3-magnum_For-Sale_150221164630537 Heres another link, out the 2, I would go the Zabala route Edited March 6, 2015 by Bluebarrels

sishyplops
Budget ? That's the 1st question , you state not costing the earth but in relevance to who.? I think a grand for a gun is a lot of money where some people thinking spending 5k is neither here nor there, so if we can establish budget the pw massive an then make an informed response. (I sound like I'm at work lol) Edited as I cannot spell Edited March 6, 2015 by sishyplops
