islandgun
To be fair that's largely to do with out electoral system. If we had PR it would give a very different picture. the two major parties have always moved the boundaries to suit themselves, PR is the only fair way
grrclark
the two major parties have always moved the boundaries to suit themselves, PR is the only fair way I am really mixed on PR, I absolutely believe that the system we have now is not suitable for a multiparty system and I do believe that the % share of the vote should be recognised, but the bit about it that I don't like is the lack of individual accountability of a constituency MP. If I vote for Jim Smith and Jim Smith turns out to be a knob then I can vote against him next time, but if he is part of a list so long as the party favours him then we are stuck with him. I don't know what the answer is, but I have not really given it a great deal of thought either. It needs to be simple though and the alternative vote system proposed last time was not simple. Jay_Russell
I would vote UKIP myself, but... i definately do not want a labour government so when it comes to the tick it will be conservative.
Fisherman Mike
Mike i don't mind most insults and banter, but to try and insinuate that i may be part of the KKK even if you thought it was funny is over stepping the mark, I am not a racist i am not homaphibic. to suggest i am is wrong,i thought better of you. Gordon R
We are going to have to wait for a few more days. I will be genuinely interested to see how it pans out. Pollsters see UKIP support waning, but I have seen no such thing. I know quite a few who will be supporting them - time will tell.
kdubya
Watched the Andrew Marr show this morning, watched that idiot cooper and the soon to be out of a job Clegg do sod all but avoid, evade, and downright spin to any subject other than being discussed, rather than answer a direct question if you want someone who says it as it is, then like him or loathe him Nige is the one. grrclark
I am really interested to see how it pans out as well and how much of things said during the short campaign are going to come back to haunt some people. Miliband saying he won't be PM if he has to compromise his manifesto at all and won't be PM if he has to rely on the SNP. Cameron saying that he won't be PM unless there is a guaranteed referendum on Europe. Clegg won't give support to any party unless his 'red line' manifesto promises are met. UKIP will get a good share of the vote, but sadly won't be reflected in seats, SNP will rout Labour in Scotland and a fighting chance that the tories will get a larger share of the vote in Scotland, the Greens will likely do better in share of the vote, but thankfully won't get more than 1 MP and hopefully none. Apart from weeks, if not months, of negative campaigning, wilfully misleading statements and quite honestly a poor bunch from which to choose it is the most interesting election in a very long time, if only because nothing is really predictable. I am completely scunnered with the amount of TV debates that have added no value at all, with the exception of the special QT earlier this week, I thought they have been really poor. Will be glad to see this part of it finished come Thursday. I suspect that you kippers may be disappointed with the final result, but they have had a hugely powerful influence already and I don't think they will fizzle out either and I'm happy to be wrong with my suspicion. I very much hope that Nige wins his seat, I think politics needs guys like him to be involved at the front line and I think UKIP would lose a lot of momentum if he doesn't win. I hope that Clegg retains his seat along with Alastair Carmichael who represents Orkney & Shetland. I passionately hope that Salmond doesn't win a seat, but suspect that he will; if he does it could lead to some interesting viewing if Nige wins a seat too. Most of all I'm hoping that Cameron remains PM for a number of reasons and I hope that Boris wins his seat too.
The Croc
The way I'm hearing it, UKIP will be very happy if they make 6 seats, (I hope more) but they are saying it's the number of seats they come 2nd in which will be the game changer, they're hoping lots of 2nd places I think. al4x
yep and then on to 2020 KW What's occurring in 2020 then, lots of ukippers realising they shot themselves in the foot having endured 5 years of millipede and sturgeon?
welsh1
Why blame UKIP for the failings of other parties?as I said earlier if the main parties kept their promises and listened to the electorate and didn't just play "poll rating politics" then UKIP would not exist. The only people to blame for any mess now or in the future are those that failed the electorate with their false promises and spin.
kdubya
What's occurring in 2020 then, lots of ukippers realising they shot themselves in the foot having endured 5 years of millipede and sturgeon? No, more the realisation that thanks to your beloved cons we will have had 5 years of miilipede and sturgeon something I would rather have than your scum, who looked after the top lads whilst bashing with a large club those at the bottom, (god help them if they had an empty bedroom, the fiends) Still if your morality lets you dodge your tax, happily pay your immigrant workers a pittance whilst driving down wages and lowering opportunities for our own youngsters to actually buy a house ( rent a few do you?)and call our unemployed youth work shy to boot ( you dont do you ) keep voting the con men. Not that it will help because 1st past the post self interest unrepresentative 3 party politics is gone, so sing along chum! hap, hap hap hap,hap happy days, elections like they need to be.
