I had a hunter jacket , it was about as breathable as a polythene bad , the hand pocket lining split after I had used it twice , I took it back and got my money back , though to be fair I have yet to find a "breathable" jacket yet that is , though I expect the more you spend the better they get.

Is the jack pike gear not very good then?

I have aquired some of the hunting/shooting boots,

They do seem comfortable and warm, looking for a black hunting vest seen some on the bay of evil, fishing and hunting types

Bearing in mind I've only been clay shooting at this time and a normal body warmer type pockets just ain't big enough

For the shells

i will never ever EVER wear a hunter jacket again, for a breathable jacket its like wearing a bin bag. shame as quality seemed good with plenty of pockets in all the right places and pricing was good. if it where not for the overheating id have loved it

got a deerhunter ram now thats lovely, had tons of abuse over the last two years and is still waterproof and warm without being to warm

I have the field trousers and the jacket, like others have said they are not breathable at all, had the jacket over a jumper went out for a few hours and was absolutely soaked in sweat after 10 minutes.

The trousers aren't bad as long as it's not chucking it down with rain

I have a Hunter jacket, for the money it is OK, most of the time I'm sitting still waiting for the ambush and it is fine for that. If I need extra ventilation I just use the fasteners and keep the zip undone. If you were doing a yomp up and down hills you would probably sweat in anything.

I have the hunter outfit and I must admit to hating it for the first couple of years-but its kinda grown on me now, I think its a case of using a bit of common sense as to when you wear it, I wear mine every day now for dog walking and 90% of the time its OK -if it gets hot then at least the jacket is light enough to carry comfortably. Go Outdoors stock most of the range and offer to beat ANY price by 10%-just take along a copy of the webpage or advert.

It's a shame. It's a well designed jacket, but as everyone said it's just not breathable. I have the camo version, and it's fine if you're not moving about much, but if you're actually walking a lot in it, don't bother. Deerhunter might well be the way to go. My bird watching coat is by them and, whilst it's a much heavier affair it's more breathable than the Jack Pyke attempt at a similar thing.

I must have been lucky! I have the so called hunter 3-1. I rarely have the inner section in as its fine without. I find it light and perfect for in the hide use or a walk about. The inner, is just as functional if you want something a bit shorter. I have a pair of the tundra boots and find them superb. Just this morning, I was thinking how good they are as I dropped some crow carcasses across a field of sown oats. Very light, warm and didn't pick up any soil/clay like willies would have. I know others have had their problems with Jack Pyke kit, but at entry level cost, I think its very good value for money. Works for me
