Yesterday evening.Out again at weekend.

Only got back into shooting in recent years after a very long absence.I grew up shooting until my mid thirties when work and family etc interrupted.

Go out at least a couple of times a week and would miss it greatly if it was not available.Recently made a night vision rig up but I have been happy to sit and watch the wildlife at night, until needs say I should use it for control purposes.

Yesterday. Went out for some ferret food. Shot a couple of bunnies then rounding hedge startled four Magpies on a midden heap. Was very surprised when they settled in the top of a Hawthorn instead of scarpering so had time to kill two of them ( both juveniles ) before the other two did.

When i was younger i would be u at 4am and shoot rabbits till 7 then go to school then come back while 5 and do the same in the evening, until the weekend when i would be beating or shooting or target shooting or whatever else i could cram in.

Now with the little dog, college & work, i try and get out once a week with the shotgun minimum. I have good intentions to go with the air rifle most days of the week but seem to choose the lie in, lack of motivation for it at the moment.

In the season i do a bit of game shooting, but i think i might give it up, it can be good, but the two shoots near me i have been going on for 6 odd years now and its getting a bit samey.. does that sound daft?

Really want to find some proper rough land i can do some rough walked up shooting on as i think i'd enjoy that more.
