Hamish99
Hi All I recently called firearms licensing in Edinburgh to ask the progress of my application for SGC, The reply i got was that it had been signed off by the division commander and i should have it in a couple of weeks. All good says me ,however i called yesterday and apparently it is still with the division commander waiting to be signed off I have now been waiting 28 weeks or 196 days and still no certificate, When or should i complain. Regards Hamish.

Regards Hamish. About the only way you can bring this to a head is to do something legal that leads you to being arrested for not having a SGC and let the police get egg on their face in front of a magistrate/judge. It's about time this happened. P.S. make sure they don't shoot you. Edited January 21, 2016 by rjimmer

HDAV
Or SACS........ You could explain you have been given conflicting info, also if you put it in writing the way it's dealt with is different (more structured) that said may be better to wait till you have sett in hand then complain to police Scotland about the ridiculous delay in processing an application! saddler
Phone in to standards department & make an official complaint
Catamong
Absolutely disgraceful, I would go down to the Firearms Dept, (if you can find them open?), and politely complain in person. If you've got no previous convictions that is way too long to have to wait. Cat.
mr smith
Just phoned my lot to enquire about a variation to add an air rifle to my ticket back at the end of august.Oh they say it's still out for enquiry with division whatever that means and they don't have it back yet.Perhaps if they hadn't faffed about with things like a home visit for what should be a very easy variation to do. saddler
I think the new default scapegoat battle cry will be "....out with division. ..." WE are not the one's that implemented this new proceedural change, THEY are: and early indicators are = rank failure from the get-go Edited January 21, 2016 by saddler
Scully
Absolutely disgraceful, I would go down to the Firearms Dept, (if you can find them open?), and politely complain in person. Yep. You need to not lonely contact your organisation but go down there in person and tell them more than a six month wait isn't acceptable. It wont get you anywhere (even contacting your shooting organisation wont get you anywhere) but you will certainly feel better. There is another thread on here regarding this matter. I think it's high time us shooters lobbied our shooting organisations en masse and withheld subs until they got it sorted ( yeah, like that's gonna happen!) License fees are going up but so are waiting times; can't be right.

Time for us to start lobbying them, says I.
JDog
Write personally to the Chief Constable giving him all of the relevant dates and names of anyone you may have had contact with regarding your application. Do not complain until after you have received your certificate or you may find that your application takes another twenty eight weeks. clanchief
You have been spun a load of tosh, division commander must be a new title I have never heard of ever in Police Scotland. Your cert will go to the new headquarters in Rutherglen for administration, they are months many months behind. This is due to moving everything under one roof. Log onto the website Police Scotland get the number and call the license dept in Glasgow direct for an answer., don't wast anymore time with Lothian and Borders local offices it's not ran from there.
