Bluebarrels
Went out this morning with the intention of decoying a few crows, set up the hide and got the decoys out and then noticed that not many crows about but quite a few Pigeons flying around, well more than we normally see around these parts A quick change of crow to pigeon decoys then back to the hide to sit and see how things panned out well they soon started to commit to the decoys and and I shot 2 with the 12g in no time. Well I made the decision to stick the 12g back into the gun sleeve and have a bash with the .410 Hushpower yes I know I could have shot a lot more today with the semi-auto and believe me the birds were commiting in good numbers,i had three occasions where 100 + birds came into the deeks together!!! and on all three occasions I didn't even fire a shot after not staying on one bird in the panic Anyway it was a good 2 hours then things dried up and the birds were gone but to be honest I was more than happy for some good sporting shots with the Hushpower finished with 16 birds picked. Nice day to be out though BB
kenholland
iv'e found by using the 410 hushy they don't spook the big bunches to much and stay in the area a bit longer to decoy .

Shotguneddy
Wot do you boys make of the 410 standards or hushys, been thinking bout getting one for a perm of mine with houses about 400 yards away, unable to use 12 for obvious reasons. Always see loads of crows on it so, any advice appreciated cheers
Dasher
The .410 single shot Husher has to be my favourite choice for a pleasant couple of hours shooting, no noise, no annoying ear defenders, just the sound of the hedgerow birds mocking me! Oddly enough I popped out for two hours on Saturday with the intention of bagging a few pigeon but only managed 4, and then the corvids moved in once I had shot and pegged out a crow, this then resulted in 9 crows all falling to Eley Trap 14g cartridges out to 30yrds. I was very pleased with my self I had the best shot to kill ratio I've ever had at 2 kills per 3 shots, this unfortunately lulled me into a false sense of competence as I went out yesterday and completely embarrassed myself and that was using my favourite Fiocchi 19g cartridges. :-(

sitsinhedges
I would definitely use a normal 12. That's a long way off.
Bluebarrels
As the lads above have said 400 yards is quite a distance and you should be OK with a 12 gauge. Might be worth getting a mate to stand by the nearest dwelling, and you can then fire a couple of shots off and see if he thinks it's loud enough to disrupt the local residents,BB
stoxs
Gas banger guns are not to be put less than 200 meters of a dwelling so 400 and shooting generally away from them will be fine IMHO. But sometimes its best not to ruffle feathers if you know what i mean!! Edited March 1, 2016 by stoxs
Underdog
Sometimes it is best to ruffle feathers and suggest any complainers move back to the city where they can listen to police sirens and police helicopter all night.
