Dano0404
I've just waited 7 months in Kent. But I did find chasing it up helped speed things up.
Eady
Cheers Dano How long was it until you got conformation they received your application?
steveshoots
all sgc should be dealt with with in 8 weeks that is the norm. However they usually do run on a little 40 weeks is far too long. join BASC if you are having trouble after say 12 weeks get in touch with BASC and they will advise you after that if nothing happens put it in there hands it usually works when they get involved my mate did this when he applied for his a week later he had it although we are from sheffield but its the same country wide.. chris1961
The wait is the worst part but the joy when it drops on the door mat is great

Thanks My understanding from speaking to the local gunshop is that this is very, very optimistic optimistic. When my SGC was granted in 2014 the website said 3 months and it took 5, although BASC are on the case (whatever that means) if i was you i wouldn't expect to hear anything for at least a year, the website says not to even contact them until you have been waiting 40 weeks.. Brodie
Remember you can shoot at many grounds without a certificate using their gun. Otherwise get another hobby whilst you're waiting for Essex.
Winston72
4 months and 2 weeks for me in West Yorkshire pay peanuts for a license, if it went up wed have uproar, i would willingly have paid twice the price for half the time, not sure ill say that at renewal time though, none the less welcome to the site Paul. fortune
That is disgusting I would be on the phone to complaints Minor problem here. Kent don't take incoming calls and IF you can get through to an feo they don't know anything either. BUT don't forget to get in touch with basc because they are on the case. so is my granny and the bloke down the road with the three leg dog because they have as much influence. The firearms dept are quaking in their boots. Figure this out, son in law in Sussex >> First time application 5 weapon grant two months wait. Sorted and issued. why? similar area, similar population, similar sort of town/ rural mix. Why?
ninja_fox
Unfortunately grants in Essex are currently taking about a year to be processed - I know quite a few people who have been waiting over 50 weeks https://www.essex.police.uk/contact_us/firearms_application/service_delivery_targets.aspx

Normt
Hi Eady Not had a visit yet, spoke to them a month ago and they said I would have it at the end of March. Phoned again today to find out the FEO is on holiday and to wait another week and give him a ring. It's very frustrating but what can you do. Len2016
in essex its ten months at least before you get a visit so as soon as it runs out you have to take all your rifles and humane killers to a gun dealer but not your shotgun so all gamekeepers and pest controllers are unable to protect sheep chickens e c t and a lot less clean kill rabbits or do i leave the foxes in the traps untill i get my licences back we allways had two week turn around but its not the police at fault it is all the cut backs cheers len
Mentalmac
Essex has gone downhill massively lately, a few years back I got mine from sending to getting it in 6 weeks. Since then they have had staffing issues and all sorts.
