Mentalmac
Hi All, Being Easter weekend and having tomorrow off, I was thinking to take the kids and dog out somewhere for the day, perhaps in Norfolk or Suffolk - anyone know of anything that the kids (2 and 4 and 12) will enjoy that I can take a dog with me for? Any ideas very welcome :-)
hedge
North Norfolk beaches. Ice cream for the kids and a big beach for the dog. Great walks with tea/cake/ice cream at start and finish.
Penelope
Agreed, Well next the Sea. Fabulous place. A meal in the Victoria on the Holkham Estate, perhaps? North Norfolk beaches. Ice cream for the kids and a big beach for the dog. Great walks with tea/cake/ice cream at start and finish.

AVB
Personally I'd struggle to find something that appealed to 2, 4 and 12 year old children and a dog. I'd ditch the kids (and I do have children) and take the dog. More fun.

marsh man
Hi Chris ...... Take them to Sheringham to look at the steam railway engines , then for a bit of exercise for the dog and kids walk to Beeston Regis ( a mile away ) and walk to the top of the hill there , locally known as the bump . Or go to Cromer for a bit of crabbing on the pier and finish up having fish and chips at Mary Janes just near by , better still , make a full day of it and do both . Enjoy it where ever you go . Mentalmac
Thanks John, appreciate the advice - I'll look that up :-). Liking AVB's suggestion too of ditching kids haha. I like the idea of crabbing and then having fish and chips too, that sounds good!
felly100
Wells next the sea. Park in town, get the train to the beach. There's a dog friendly stretch at the Holkham end. Like Penelope said walk to The Victoria for a pint, Walk up Staithe St to buy some rammel. Jobs a good un.
kennett
Another vote for wells next the sea, crabbing on the harbour wall (whilst dreaming of a sky full of pinkfoot!) then walk down the road to the left to the beach, build some sand castles and play on the huge sand heaps, if their still there and let the dog have a good charge about! AVB
Crabbing is fun. I have had many a row with the Mrs over the purpose. She keeps on saying "what's the point". To which the only answer is "to catch crabs" and then she says "why?" It's a man thing I think. Women don't get it.
kennett
Definitely a man thing, the best baits, the best way to attach it, hook or no hook and the optimum speed of retrieval all passed down from father to son.
secretagentmole
Be careful of Sandringham, dogs have died because they were walked there. Stick to the coast! There is the Bure Valley Railway as well!
Imperfection
Wells is truly a fab place in season. Ride the narrow gauge railway, visit the Dutch ship, stunning beaches with old fashioned multi-coloured huts at Holkham next door.
