I've just bought a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sport ear muffs from Amazon for £36 for the wife. Thought I'd post on here as it seemed like a good deal if anyone is interested.

They are a good deal if they are genuine , unfortunately there are a lot of fake ones about.

Thanks for the heads up Fenboy. Anything specific which I should look out for? The advantage with Amazon is that returns are easy.

No sorry , I cannot help there , I just know there were a lot of fakes doing the rounds .

I paid £35 for a S/H pair so if they are ok then they are indeed a bargain.

Thats the ones I use, bought them in september and they are still on the first set of batteries!

Other than that they fit OK -- they touch the gun stock but not enough to be a problem. The attenuation works for me -as long as you put them 'right' - I have very sensitive ears and they definitely lower the noise of the gunshot to completely manageable level. Microphone thing is great!

On the other hand they are WAY too big for my wife...

So far, very happy. Might start to look for other options during the summer if it's too hot, but for the moment zero complains.

With Tinnitus in my left ear, I now double up when I'm claying ...... with the ultimate ear moulded squidgy ones, and then some big Peltors on the top.

For fowling etc. when I really need to hear what's going on and there's a lot less shots, I revert to my Cens electronic ones which do the job well.

Regarding your Tinnitus, I suggest you have a read there and have a go. Lots of people report fantastic results: https://www.reddit.com/r/***/comments/3l3uri/slug/cv3474n

In my case it didn't help, because the noise I get in the right ear is not exactly Tinnitus, but the guys who report it to work in that link makes a good read anyway, and frankly, it's very easy to do!

I'm looking for some new ear active defenders and that is quite a bargain, thanks for sharing!

I use peltor optime 3 for work most days all day and I then use them on the range. I'm happy enough with them but have looked at electronic.

When they use the 300win mag at garlands under the cover it makes your eyes bleed not just your ears

Lol 300 WM at 100 yds. When you have 200 yds available. Not surprising really with some of the thoughtless folk that turn up.

I've used both ear plugs and over ear defenders together on occasions.

In Ear Auritecs when out hunting and Peltor 3M Sportac when on the range. When those inconsiderate enough turn up with 30 cals and muzzle brakes to shoot at 100m on the range, the only answer is to pack up and move at least 30m away from the inconsiderate pillocks.

From now on, due to worsening of tinnitus in my left ear (developed when clay shooting over a decade ago with insufficient hearing protection), I'll be doubling up when on the range. Auritecs and Peltors.

Gave it a go this morning and last night, but no luck ..... the good news is it's quite mild at the moment .... but a nice technique to try again if it gets worse ....

The one guy was using a safari gun something like a 475 under the canopy with no mod at £4 for ppu . The boom hurt my face
