CaptainBeaky
Made a few knives from bought blades, But wanted to make one from scratch , Apart from H/T had that done by someone who knows what he is doing. Very nicely executed. Can someone explain the attraction with Opinel knives, I just don't see it. Cheap. Sharp. Easy to re-sharpen. Cheap. A certain rustic charm. Cheap. figgy
Sharp and cheap. What more can you ask for. No more basic a tool than a knife, can't see a reason to pay a lot for one,I don't mind sharpening them so no need for super hard steel. A Hultafors Craftsman? Like a Mora - very cheap, very good, and in almost all cases, all the knife you'll ever need They do a range, varying from the simple working tool above to some very nice laminated steel blades. Well worth a look if you need a knife to do a job of work. Edited April 16, 2016 by CaptainBeaky

Not sure of the orange. The plastic sheath has a slot on the back for locking onto a button. Similar knife to a Mora Clipper. If I had expensive knives I'd never use them, I own a Gerber multi tool that cost £125.00 nearly 15 years ago used it around six times. Little leatherman micra on my key ring been used a great deal cost 20 odd quid with a mini mag light. I tend not to carry a sheath knife and will usually pocket my opinel. Scully
Two?!?!? The sheaths are out my price range. Good on you I say. Do you actually use them? Only teasing; they're not mine. On the school we were building ( the drawings of which can be seen under the knives ) we were banging in some serious hours and these ( amongst others ) were bought by a workmate. The folder shown with its box could actually cut right through a telephone directory, and not one of those flimsy things you get nowadays. I was going to put them up some time ago but couldn't find the pictures. I can't recall what make the damascus model is. Mine are a lot cheaper but I have so many I can't be bothered to get them all together for a pic'.
winnie&bezza
You got me on that one. Certainly some serious hours for those. Yes the promotional vids of the rockstead cutting through rope countless times and keeping its edge is very impressive. Typical Japanese. I'd be too frightened to use them. I've seen that Damascus knife before but can't remember what make. You don't want an expensive one like that as I'd be too frightened to use it. Pheasant Feeder
Here's the first knife I made, and have used it on a few Roe, there's something satisfying about gralloching a deer with a knife you've made yourself.

Pheasant Feeder
Here's the next couple I made, the one with the antler band was a Christmas present for one of the farmers of one of my permissions. The second was a comission for a work colleague who shoots, but never had a good knife, he still raves about it.
winnie&bezza
That's a nice gesture from the farmer PF. Good to see one that appreciates what you do. Nice knives and are they carbon, sandvik steel?
photon
This is probably my favourite, It was a gift from a good friend who was in the French Foreign Legion for six years, They were usually given out at Christmas but could just buy them. I asked him what was his work knife when he was in and he said an Opinel, And you were expected to have one with you at all times.
CaptainBeaky
Oh they exist duckswing. Look at that handle :-)I'm looking at that handle - and thinking, "That looks uncomfortable..."But the sheer quality of the build - exquisite! I love the little Chou Scully posted above - feeling inspired to get out into the workshop and make something now Edited April 17, 2016 by CaptainBeaky
figgy
£1500.00 for sheath knife and around £700.00 for folder. Don't think obsidian brain surgery scalpels cost that. If the knives had precious metals and jewels you could see the value but not for wood and steel.
