bluesj
As just a shooting bus i would say the only advantages are if you are driving and shooting there is a little less to do when stopping to take a shoot plus they are much smoother when you are just going along at tick over and cheaper to buy in a lot of cases Edited August 17, 2016 by bluesj
bazzab
Love the helpful input..... pointless waste of time!!!! I have an auto love it. Apart from the obvious lazy side... Exactly as blues has said above and... I prefer it as I tend to lamp from my car most of the time when I see something it's a stamp of one foot and ya stopped.... also quick push of the gear lever and car is stopped, no need to faff about with handbrake. Disadvantage I'd say would be the flash of reverse lights as you move into park. I'd struggle to go back to manual now I have to say. motty
Well, I love using my auto for shooting. I can drive around with one hand free for holding a drink/lamp etc. I am a bit lazy, so no clutch/gearstick to worry about suits me fine. No issues with off road ability, either. Vince Green
I would always choose auto over manual. I struggle to see why anyone would choose a manual except for extreme 4x4 off roading or towing a very heavy trailer.

I'd struggle to go back to manual now I have to say. if the flash of reverse is a major problem you have 2 options. if you're just stopping and the ground is level, kick it into neutral instead of park and hold with the brake. I do that all the time for shooting out the window. Alternatively, if you are parking up put it into neutral and turn off the ignition. Then put it into park. It shouldn't put the reverse lights on if the engine isn't running. thanks rick

R1nut
Could always wire a switch into the back lights to totally switch them off!! As long as it's big enough on the dash and is illuminated so you remember to switch them back on!! A very simple solution

casts_by_fly
what about the fuel cost. Depends on the auto. My same jeep with auto or manual makes little difference- it sucks it down anyway. Rick
