I have a couple of big ones. My consultant, the same one who did my cataracts, said that they can be treated. Involves firing lasers at them. They are in fact at the back of they eye, not the front, and are formed by the jelly in your eye stringing together.

If they are a serious problem and constantly affect your vision then you should seek help from your Hospital - they can be broken up by a laser quite easily. Ask for the most senior consultant as it's easy to damage your eye - be warned that it is an unusual feeling whilst being done - imagine someone flicking the back of your eye and you are about there.

No not the pigeon sort but the eye ones anyone got these *******

I have several and one annoying ****** that floats across and makes things blurred for a second

Can they be rid of somehow

I suffer from them...age related apparently as the eyes deteriorate over 50.... caused by debris or protein in the fluid near the eye..im not sure what the medical condition or terms is.

You might like to get tested for Diabetes as Floaters can be a symptom of this.. in my case the test was negative but in a colleague who had floaters was positive. I am not aware they can be treated unless severe ...you just have to live with them.

I have had bad floaters for many years and have consistently been told there is no sure cure for them.

The operation that has been mentioned is not generally available and all the consultants I have spoken to over the years do not recommend it.

The cataracts that appear as small static dots are not a real problem, but the moving cloud type are.

Some people have complained about getting the black dot floaters after lens replacement (cataract) surgery and this has been blamed on poor quality lenses, not really floaters.

Floaters are the bane of serious target rifle shooters and the subject is mentioned fairly often. People will blame a bad season on a floater

I gave up FAC rifle shooting 25 years ago, because of moving floaters.

Its been confirmed that "concussion" does activate them and I found the continued frustration just too much.
