Gordon R
in a nutshell, there's no such thing as a bargain in the world of new shotguns. That is the situation - summed up in one sentence.
Greenhunter
Don't forget or underestimate a Lincoln! Made across the road from Beretta I believe. The Elite Delux model has decorated sideplates and is very well put together . and ,yes, I do own one! GH
ShootingEgg
Second hand beretta would do the job. I have a 2003 s687 silver pigeon. The 687 is game scene and i have multichoke. The older beretta's seem a little better build quality wise.

samboy
I've recently bought a 1994 Miroku 9000 Grd 5 for a grand. Stunning wood and near mint cond. I would not buy new. Plenty of good advice above.
wymberley
Zoli columbus. RA EOS ( not sure about game scene though) Bettinsoli. Rizzini. Fausti All these guns seem to be ok. All good advice so far, but I'm in the, 'if you have an itch, scratch it' camp'. If you fancy new, then buy new, after all it's your dosh and if it stops the itch, so be it. If - and I'm not sure about this as the prices seem to be all over the shot - you can get the Zoli Columbus for that price, then it's worth a look. The range of options available is considerable. The depreciation is something spectacular too on Zoli guns. They are a expensive Beretta when you hold one. The best new gun to buy is one you can get at last years prices as they have all gone up six percent.

That I can well believe - particularly in my case as there's very few that believe that short barrels and two triggers are advantageous in a pigeon hide and also that multi chokes are completely unnecessary. Fortunately, I buy a gun to use.
viking
personally id forget about the game engraving if i was you, your limiting yourself to what guns you can look at, unless its a must for you, there is also the beretta silver pigeon 5, iv always liked the look of them but never owned a SP but used a couple in my time and never really got on with them, never felt right to me
ChrisPCarter
I've never bought a new shotgun apart from a grade 5 20bore MK60 Years ago. My advice is buy quality second hand Blaser F3, Browning, Beretta, Miroku. Funnily enough, that's the only gun I've bought new too. I won't be selling it. I also have a Blaser F3, MK38 Sporter Grade 5, Browning 525L Hunter Light. Fantastic guns. The only one I've never had is a Beretta as I never found one that fit me well. Like the look of the Magnus and Blaser F3. I have a 686s 20 bore but it's too compact for me, want something with 30" barrels.
figgy
Unless you seriously up your budget a game scene F3 will be out. The Magnus is a nice gun for the money but I would still go Beretta Silver Pigeon grade 4 or 5 depending on whether you prefer the black and gold game engraving or colour case hardened with gold. Other than them two Miroku MK70

Konor
Secondhand Browning 425 grade 5 or grade 6 might fit the bill re game scene engraving and they tend to have nice walnut
