kyska
Hi All Again yesterday I had a tyre failure, this is twice in 5 weeks, same corner as well! Am I a Jonah or could there be something wrong with the rim? I don't use cheap tyres, two different fitters. It's getting expensive.
39TDS
Same corner?

wymberley
Are the different fitters from the same firm? If so, and you had the same tyre fitted, you've got the same corner and same tyre and possibly the same batch. Excluding the road, you now only have two common denominators. Gordon R
What kind of tyre failure - puncture, blowout, tread coming away, splits?

No, I used a local fitter and had a Pirelli the first time, then had a driveway fitter that could only supply an Avon tyre, both have popped whilst driving and got mangled

Walker570
Both reputable tyre manufacturers. Check the rim first. Coincidence on the corner me thinks, other than the rim may be impeding on the tyre on that particular move.
kyska
Does that mean that you have a different tyre make/version on the other wheel on the same axle? Yes, but I had two Pirelli initially, and that popped. Edited January 29, 2017 by kyska
TaxiDriver
The fact it's on same corner would steer me (see what I did there) to look at something particular to that corner of the car, be it the rim, or suspension component, Next I'd be looking at wether I'm catching that wheel or tyre somewhere I'm driving regularly, ie on a kerb or corner or pothole or running over something ? That's a possibility, I'll pay attention to my work journey and see if there is obvious violent potholes etc.
silver pigeon69
We have a "sharp" kerb on the corner of the tight turning into our road and have had two new tyres on the nearside rear corner of my wifes car??
GingerCat
If there's nothing obvious on the journey I'd bin the rim unless its some 22 inch gold plated spiny thing. In that case I'd sell it............
39TDS
Ahh same corner of the car? I thought you meant same corner in the road.

four-wheel-drive
I think that I would have taken it back and complained that it must be faulty also get the car checked out to see if there is a problem with it if not you should at least get a free replacement tyre fitted. Not quite the same but I have had several battery's replaced after more that a year of use. You cannot do that with a straight swap if you have `one directional tyres' fitted ,. it would have to be moved to same side front or rear ...not across the axle ... or - tyres off rims and switch rims - refit . subsonicnat
Just asking..!. You did not have tubes fitted on a tubeless tyre did you. Now that would account for said symptoms, just a thought..
snow white
Is it on the inside or out side of the tyre.if its on the in side you could have a spring brokenmymate had one on is car.
