Royboy
Just wondering who will be out over the next 4 Saturdays in the woods, is there any pigeons about ?? It's the first time in years I've not had a wood to go in so I've put a dozen decoys up a row of oaks today so I'll see how it goes 👍🏻
Good shot?
Almost count on one hand the pigeons on my permissions for what seems like months, but it doesn't stop me trying. I have had to settle for a few crows while waiting / looking for the odd pigeon. Good luck.

Royboy
Heard there's a few at southport ? And a few at croston, fingers crossed 👍
HIDENSEEK
I'll be out with a few pals Roy. Not many about round here at the moment from what I can see. Hopefully when the local estates start banging away we may get a shot or two. The last couple of years have been quiet, the birds in the area favouring the sanctuary of the "mothballed" shoot on the hill. Now they're shooting again it will help to keep them moving.I don't bother with lofting poles anymore, prefering to travel light and move according to the pigeons preference.I was game shooting near Ravenglass in the Lake district on Saturday, and saw a flock of approx 700/800 up there. If we get a few cracking shots over the top of the wood it'll be worth the effort! Good luck.

Westley
I think that there will probably be quite a few guns out in the West Lancs/Merseyside woods.

It's the first time in years I've not had a wood to go in so I've put a dozen decoys up a row of oaks today so I'll see how it goes Roy it might be worth setting up early rather than going for a roost shoot as you are not in a wood. I have a spot on the edge of a wood that has a number of "sittly trees " that usually produces a few birds all day until an hour or so before dusk. At proper roosting time it produces nothing so I move a few hundred yards into the big wood at the end of the day.

Baselman
people dont go out like they used to, so there not moving. Since the 6 Nation matches are all televised, Saturday roost shooting has plunged. Numbers have dropped for the last 10 years very considerably. Westley
There are also a lot of areas that are no longer shot, for one reason or another. One area that I used to shoot is now a massive housing estate, however a lot of the woodland remains and the pigeons still go there in large numbers, impossible to shoot it though. The old Hall and Farm are open to the public and doggy walkers abound. The only guns used now are the illegally used airguns !

7daysinaweek
Have been to two of my regular perms several times of late in Lathom and Burscough and very little about, good few of my buddies report poor numbers. That said farmer tells me the other week on one field adjacent to one of my fields was hammered over the space of one day, it was on osr and they never returned said the farmer. Not his land, when i got there i could see that it had been werried good style, several return visits over that spell and very little showing. Will be out next week and see how i get on!
