Apparently they stopped him taking his own life, I just read this bit of the article, doubt it tho, he claims (among other things) that Pheasants are wiping out Adders! four-wheel-drive
The problem is not so much with the dogs it is the daft haircuts that people give them at while ago I used to see a man walking a big one with the stupid Lion cut I always that that would take sum guts to walk down the street with that thing on a lead If it was me I would be wearing a bag over my head so that I was not recognized :whistling: Edited March 28, 2017 by four-wheel-drive

Hate to say it but pheasants do eat young adders I beleive. As for wiping them out, not sure, any evidence of this.

Mice!
Used to enjoy spring watch etc but with him bleating on its better on mute. As for poodles used to be a standard one my dog ran with many moons ago lovely big dog with a normal hair cut
Blackpowder
poodles! Were they not originally a hunting dog and some of the daft cuts are related to water work. Blackpowder
anser2
I used to have a poodle as a kid. It was given to me as a present by a friend of my parents though in reality it became my mums dog. I refused to have it show clipped so its ran around with shaggy dog but still had to have a short back and sides once a year. It had no interest in shooting and I quickly lost interest in it. Not all bad though - It loved to chase cats!
hawkeye
A retired game keeper i know used to have a standard poodle and he told me he had labs and spaniels over the years but the best gun dog he ever had was this poodle said it was absolutely brilliant.... saddler
As an aside, but related, I've got the WW2 US Army handbook on "Army Dogs" One of the recommendations for suitable breeds = standard poodle.
fortune
The poodle is a water hunting dog and the cut is designed to protect the joints and the short bits are sow that the coat doesnt get water logged. they dont moult so the need to be trimmed. As for Mr. P. He is of no cosequence. If he was going to take his life, he has nothing. Feel sorry for him.
manthing
Read somewhere once that the French police used standard poodles as working dogs and they can quite easily get over a 6ft wall. Don't recall ever seeing one with a "normal" clip.
