Ian North Wales
Hey all, not sure if this has been covered in the past but is it worth trying to decoy crows in the rain?

Cranfield
Most certainly, assuming its not a monsoon, it doesn't seem to bother them.

Ian North Wales
When decoying crows do you use a pattern like with pigeons? If so what type/layout? Thanks for any advice guys
old'un
No, just stick them anywhere within range of your hide, about a yard or two apart. Best way to learn is sit and watch how the birds act on the field. Edited May 29, 2017 by old'un
hawkfanz
place facing different ways like old un says,if shooting in rain use a fishing brolly for cover it also stops em lookin into the hide, ive found rain doesn,t bother blacks at all. moose man
When decoying crows do you use a pattern like with pigeons? If so what type/layout? Thanks for any advice guys As said , no pattern just in range , spent this morning decoying them and had a little rain that never affected them at all , managed to end the morning close on forty mainly crows and rooks ..ps ..on the drive home I watched two or three hundred getting stuck into a maize crop that had just germinated .. Weavers
I'm new to this and am about to buy a rough shooting gun for crows. Someone I know shoots a .410 semi auto with a sliencer. Any thoughts on this please
Ian North Wales
Hey Weavers, im not an expert and I know every gun has a time and a place but I think a 410 is not enough for Crows, they are a hard bird so I would go for a 12 bore with a number 6 or 5 shot 30g. Ive not been shooting crows long but that’s what I think from the experience ive had
ShootingEgg
As Ian states, a 410 requires a good shot at crows, it will kill at sub 40 yards but you have a bigger challenge due to power and shot count. A 20 or 12 guage would be more suited with no6 or no5 shot.
