old'un
My FAC is due for renewal end of August, just had letter from Staffs police for renewal, one thing I cannot get my head around is the request for permission slips (land approval forms) from farmer/s to say I have permission to shoot. I have an open ticket so I might be shooting on existing land or new, the onus being put on the shooter as to whether the land/area is safe to shoot, I can understand the request for this information on the grant of FAC but not for renewal on an open ticket. m0t0deb
you might have also lost all your permissions so the firearms dept might not know this that's why they want farmers permissions (not having a dig)
Danger-Mouse
Suppose you no longer had any land to shoot on. They would be issuing an open ticket for no reason.
old'un
Fair comment and that did enter my head but would it not be easer for them to add a question on the renewal form asking if you still have land to shoot over. Ok lets say I have no land to shoot over but I decide to become a pest controller travelling up and down the country spending a day here and there, what happens then? CharlieT
With a renewal, like an initial application, you still need to demonstrate your good reason for having a firearm. Having somewhere to use it has to be proved. Remember though, that you only need to send of one permission slip.
Imperfection
you still need to demonstrate your good reason for having a firearm. This. Firearm ownage isnt a right in the uk.

So it looks like the police don't think we would give an honest answer if asked the question....Do you still have land to shoot over....yes/no. Dougy
What's even more frustrating is changing a rifle like for like while your ticket is still in date. If I wanted to change my 30.06 for another one I still needed to prove good reason, even though it's already on my ticket and open for AOLQ. So thought stuff it if I have to go through all that I won't bother. So put in for a bigger one lol. Just waiting for ticket to drop through the letter box. ;-)
