Education of reporters

I have just read a Sky News report ... "Nearly 79 may be dead in the burned out flats" ... well is it seventy eight, seventy eight and a quarter, seventy eight and fifteen sixteenths maybe" again this is looking for, trying to build a story. Conjecture. Fake News. Pathetic. Problem is 95% of the public out there fall for it with all sorts of totally fake untrue stories wizzing around on facebook, twitter etc., far worse than seventy eight and nine tens.

In addition if the words may and could, got banned from usage, the vast majority of news media and for that matter politicians, would be speechless.

You think that our reporters are bad.

We are in France at the moment and were looking at the Champs Elysees shooting on the French news. An hour of shaky phone footage showing nothing apart from police vehicles and the stopped car overlaid by speculative voiceovers by the news anchor and 3 specialistes all saying nothing.

could reporter shaming become a game of 2 halves?

I would like to see 2 things happen.......

  1. proper reporters, who do their groundwork BEFORE they open their damn mouth..
  2. when politicians are being interviewed.....on the left of the screen should be a tick box...so when they answer the question they get a tick....and if they dont answer the question they get a red cross...the at the end of the interview they will be given their marks

they want to act like children ...then we will treat them like children.........

My take on it is that rolling news means desperation to fill time with anything, more reporters needed which dilutes the quality, and there are so many news outlets that pretty much anyone can write for some publications/sites

Although some of these are just slips of the tongue which are bound to happen on live broadcasts, Colemanballs of current affairs if you will
