Harnser
Looks and sounds like an honest and honourable man . The BASC could do with an honourable and honest chief executive with out a hidden agenda . Good luck to the brigadier. Hanser
termin8r
So, from February it will be BASC for whom the Bell toils! Seems a very good choice!
Whitebridges
I'm pleased and I like this: "Shooting is enjoying a golden period of popularity, but there are many challenges in the months and years ahead, not least of which is the uncertainty surrounding Brexit. BASC’s council is confident that, in Ian, it has found an outstanding individual with a huge amount of leadership and strategic experience and the drive to ensure BASC remains the voice of shooting.” A warm welcome. We need a top class leader after the last two imbeciles.
panoma1
As long as he works solely in the interests of all shooters and shooting and unlike one of his 'shifty' predecessors, does not use his position to pursue his own personal agendas! suburban shooter
As long as BASC believe that they are currently THE voice of shooting there will be no progress and we need them to get into the 21'st century.

stagboy
As long as BASC believe that they are currently THE voice of shooting there will be no progress and we need them to get into the 21'st century. I agree nobody wants a return to the old, bossy BASC of old, but those days are long gone (I hope). I see from their website that BASC membership has recently soared past 150,000 - an all-time record, and certainly more shooters than all the other orgs put together. Impressive. You'd have thought this growth, coming as it does from a market that is static at best, might cause friction with the smaller orgs, but last time I checked BASC seemed to be getting on pretty well with all the other orgs. The new BASC chief exec designate has no baggage (that I can detect) so let's hope he keeps up the good work of the post-Jarrett/Ali/Curtis era. oowee
mmmmm good luck to him. I hope he has plenty of political skills and can work in a grey management role that is less black and white than military leadership can be. I have always found the organisation excellent and and with good management can no doubt build on its strengths.
