Guest cookoff013
With subsonic loading. You will make money and be better shells.
Hammo
When I was a nipper, used to use a Lee Loadall for 12 bore reloading, there must be a 20 bore version. I think you would save quite a bit of dough once set up. Just looked - £70 on Amazon. Edited August 19, 2019 by Hammo
Guest cookoff013
price it up. infact if you were to buy equivalent shells, in the first 1200shells it would have paid for itself (12gauge.). plus no manufacturer makes 42g subsonics. letalone the fibre environmentaly friendly subsonics. figgy
Mate used to buy subsonics for his but just went for standard carts said it made little difference through his drainpipe over and under gun.
Guest cookoff013
While it in the consept of your friends drainpipe. Loading with big shot than the manufacturers is an advantage.
figgy
Cook I agree, slower bigger shot will do the job giving better patterns.

captainhastings
So when you make a subsonic is it just less powder to give it less umph ?

oowee
Can anyone put any numbers to the cost of loading the 20g sub sonics? Bumpy and I are looking to go into production. 😁
Guest cookoff013
_fill in the gaps lads...... what size shell? £30 primers/k xx wads xx hulls lead-20kg is about £82 or about £74 depending on vendor. i like lead 4s for subsonics. if it had been 12gauge, i`d have had 4 loads. oowee
Today i got to. Cases based on 8 uses (they say 10 but some will split and get lost) 1.69p Overshot card 1.14p. Primer 3.7p. Fibre wad 2.7p. nitro card 1.8p. 28g no 6 shot 7.5p. powder 20g 5p. Total 23.5p each or £235a 1000. Compared to £245 for a 1000 24g no 7.5s Some of the components could change but it would not change the price significantly unless my maths is wrong (more than possible 🙂 ) Prices from https://shotgunreloading.co.uk/ Based on 20g cases 100 at £13.5. 1000 overshot cards at £11.4. 1000 primers at £37.5. fibre wads 500 at £9. 10kg no 6 shot £37.5 powder 0.5 kg at £38.4. sitsinhedges
Shame you don't live local to me. I used to reload for 20g subs a lot and I've got all the necessary components here cheaper than quoted. Shame you don't live local to me.
