He was also sentenced to more, there was a 14 year and 3 10 year ones as well. From the MET's Facebook page - #JAILED | Man sentenced to 33 life sentences Joseph McCann, a serial rapist who sparked a nationwide manhunt earlier this year, has been jailed for a minimum of 30 years. At the Old Bailey today, the Judge, Mr Justice Edis, called McCann “a coward, a violent bully and a paedophile” who had carried out a campaign of rape, violence and abduction of a level he had never seen or heard of before. “You have never expressed a word of regret or concern for your victims. You are entirely obsessed with yourself and believe you are entitled to use other people in any way you want. You think that other people exist only for your pleasure,” he said. “You are a classic psychopath; I don’t think you will ever cease to be dangerous.” He sentenced McCann to 33 life sentences to be served concurrently, with a minimum term of 30 years in jail. He was also sentenced to three ten-year sentences and a 14-year sentence, all to be served concurrently with the above. Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, who led the investigation, said: “McCann is one of the most dangerous offenders this country has ever seen and the sentence handed down today is a reflection of his heinous crimes. “Although the criminal proceedings are over, we should never forget that the 11 individuals who were subjected to McCann’s completely evil actions will have to live with those memories for the rest of their lives. “Their unwavering support for the police investigation and the evidence they gave in court meant the jury had no choice but to see McCann for the depraved individual he really was. “I must also thank all of the officers involved in this long and complex case, from those who first responded and provided immediate support to the victims, through to the investigation team who have dedicated the last few months preparing for this trial." Anyone who believes that they are victim of a sexual offence should report it to the police. The information you provide will be treated in strictest confidence and you will be supported by specialist officers. Eh? Might have got a bit knocked off for his minority status 😂 Poor start in life and all that, these 'poor' travellers don't get the breaks in life we get you know! Think about it, his penchant for violent kidnap and rape, didn't just start did it? There'll be a trail of victims behind him like you can't imagine. Boristhedog
https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/SENTENCING-REMARKS-McCANN.pdf This is the judges sentencing remarks but it seems the judge passed the buck and rather than give him a whole life tariff he’s left it to a Parole Board in the future to decide whether he’s released. Sha Bu Le
Whats with his concurrent sentencing garbage? This case shows a badun can commit as many heinous crimes as he/she feels like and still only do the same time under concurrent sentencing. The beak should have made it continuous, he would never have gotten out. As it is he'll only be around 63 (still 'young' enough to be dangerous) if he does the full 30 years. Provided no fluffy bunny type decides he's a reformed person and would make a model citizen in less than 30. (not). Are continuous sentences off the 'books' now, never seen one handed down for I don't know how long. Or have the guide lines changed (to give more space in prisons), rather then build new ones, a few ruined lives or deaths of Joe & Jill public mean nothing to whatever flavour government is in power. They make the right noises but that is all.
