Modafinale
Being as I’m bored , I thought I’d show you a defender build I did a few years ago. will try 1 post per day started off with a seized 2.5 turbo engined defender with a rotten chassis bought from Cornwall for less than £700 and transported to Nottingham for £180. It actually doesn’t look as bad as it was

Modafinale
Richards chassis was collected with the help of a friend and his trailer. Two td5 axels procured and cleaned up. gearbox was to be removed and reused if main drive was good
Modafinale
God did I really take that many pictures 😳 hope we all live long enough to finish the project front discovery axel cleaned and two pack chassis black painted Edited April 2, 2020 by Modafinale
Modafinale
Rear axel cleaned painted new discs and callipers fitted , for the price it’s was safer than trying to refurbish the old ones. lots of bits to buy, lots of refurbishing to do
Modafinale
Front axel rebuild, balls showed a little rust but nothing major and not enough to damage seals, disks where in fair condition so reused along with callipers. while this was happening I was also stripping the donor , and buying parts and panels ! Unfortunately very little of the donor was of much use
Walker570
That motor had seen a lot of salty air/water me thinks. Looking good.
Modafinale
I bought it from Barnstable north Devon . and it had a lifeboat crew window badge so I assume some of its life was very close to the sea
Modafinale
As you can see front out riggers where well rotted, the chassis was just as bad !
Modafinale
Bought a low mileage 200tdi from a friend of a friend who thought it had a turbo overrun. But on hearing the story sounded more like a stuck throttle. Stripped it down new head gasket, turbo cartridge and injection pump ( rusted internally due to being stored in damp barn) Engine finished ready to go in chassis
oldypigeonpopper
hello, it goes to show what the cold and damp can do to vehicles not being used, i am sure lots of PW members like myself are not driving, it pays to start up and leave running a while to get oil around the engine and any damp areas, i might get some petrol instead as tesco is very close Edited April 3, 2020 by oldypigeonpopper

unico1
Great pictures and nice work, we to have done quite a few typically 200 tdi conversions Into series stuff. Currently have a 1989 turbo diesel 90. The plan with this one is to put a Merc om606 engine mated to r380 gearbox and td5 axles to up the brakes. Might come sooner than later with this lockdown business. Stay safe all.
