Shooting Shed/Room/Storage

Django

Recommended Posts

Decided earlier this year to use a bit of dead space we had to the side of the garage and turn it into a shooting storage shed/garage game prep area. Mainly because all my shooting bits were getting ruined in the garage from welding spots/grinding, and the wife was sick of me bringing in birds that I had to wash the grease/oil off of after preparing them.

Has been slow going, but lockdown allowed me a bit more time.

Not quite complete but getting there now

Will add a few more pictures and updates as I go, but here is the bulk of it

Anyone else have a similar area/set up?

Decided to try and hide the door a little so not as obvious and to help it blend in - (door is the right hand half with a concealed lock) Managed to get some waney edge board that was a good match to existing, but was still a bit of a jigsaw puzzle

Started on the inside - kitchen that came from the in-laws rip out . I don’t have running water, so using a 12v caravan tap and pump, and a 25 litre water container which will be going in soon

Floor painted 2 coats concrete floor paint and wardrobe installed for storage of clothing. (stolen from one of my kids bedrooms) Planing to separate it in the middle and have a tube heater in one half to dry clothes (with some vents)

LED batton lights in - going to add another one I think

Just got this sorted for the space next to the wardrobe. Fold up seat for shoe storage Got it locally, sanded down and going to oil it before it goes in

Lol,  cheap voodoo art from the Caribbean.  Hati or Jamaica, I Can’t remember.  It’s amazing what a tourist will buy when drinking tax free liquor.  They get you slammed on dirt cheap drinks then sell you $200 worth of trinkets and ****. 😂

Ahh you should come to the UK, we'll fill your pockets with sticks of rock instead 😂

Looks excellent Django, the hidden door is really effective too.  A great useable space from what I imagine was otherwise wasted ground.

The space was exactly that. Not big enough to park a car, but not worth leaving and mowing etc.. will be nice to get it all done before we start the season again. Get new (second hand) freezer tomorrow

In Hati the little kids sell the huge conch shells to tourists.  The are hand painted with various landscapes.  When you get back on the boat Hatian customs Search your bags and seize the shells as they are illegal to remove from the island.  The kids line up to get the shells and run back out to sell them again.

That’s sad.  I seen the old school Ar10s fetch up to $75,000 dollars.

Did you insulate it?  Are you going to heat it?

I'd read somewhere about that sort of things happening in Africa too.

Very nice job, like the door idea.

Can I ask why you didn't do hips with shingles ?

I had a roll left over but it was in a different colour (grey) however I prefer heating that on than using the tiles for the hips as I have found with the tiles you can end up with too many joints and they can crack as you bend them
