armsid
Why does it happen in this country? Postmasters/ mistresses jailed bankrupted and their lives ruined because of a computor glich which was proved only after an appeal even though the glich was known about.before some were prossecuted. The point is the ceo of the post office must have known of the problem yet spent x millions on court cases and after the appeals were won proving the Horizon system was flawed is rewarded and goes on to another high payed job and takes no blame. This happens in banking and other high flying jobs. Your comments please
clangerman
it happens because we have no intention of admitting mistakes in this country had a poor woman on the local news tonight reacting to her conviction being over turned a bit late now she’s lost everything the post offices conduct was outrageous anything but admit the truth shame on them
enfieldspares
In US the people at the top responsible for this would risk the likelihood that they might go to jail. In the UK the only likelihood they risk is that their KBE might be downgraded to a CBE or...heaven forbid...a mere OBE.
Gordon R
The Post Office were aware of the flawed Horizon system more than 12 years ago. If the CEO didn't know, he must have been deaf, dumb and blind or totally out of touch.
Mickeydredd
The pattern emerging should certainly have raised concern that perhaps there was a systems issue that needed investigating. This ruined so many innocent people's lives and I hope they all get substantial compensation, as this is one instance where significant recompense must be given. Hello, I think the compensation was swallowed up in legal fees

The Post Office knew it was flawed and so did many people outside the Post office.

I despise the modern day ambulance-chasing mentality of compensation but these cases are absolutely deserving of significant compensation. Gordon R
Given that the Post office already knew they had a flawed system, I do wonder if that important factor was disclosed to the defence before and during the trials. I suspect that the full extent of their misgivings about the system was never highlighted, which might well have seriously undermined the prosecution cases. Agriv8
Because the company behind horizon were allowed to be judge dred. A couple of post masters committed suicide over the allegations. All driven because turning a profit and shutting people up with threats and law suits is more important than doing the right thing. AVB
A shocking miscarriage of justice. The Post Office have been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for the case of Malicious Prosecution.

If it is “The Post Office” as a legal entity that has been referred to the DPP Will this also embrace those senior staff that signed off the decisions to prosecute or will they remain anonymous and escape Scott free? Gordon R
It is the Post Office contractors, Fujitsu, whose evidence has been referred to the DPP.
Agriv8
Hope they keep digging till they get to the bottom of if. I doubt they will as they will sacrifice a few lower officers to make sure top brass get a bonus and huge pension/ shares. Fingers crossed the post office has learnt that you can not have oversight and investigation the same people who are running the system. I really hope that the post masters get proper compensation Regards Agriv8
