lampro
Cheers fellers will take a look, a pall of mine has a semi auto but the guides need sorting said I could have it for free and get it fixed
Walker570
If this is your first then I would not by a semi auto. A tidy side by side 12 gauge would be more than adequate from your description of use. As said plenty of choices of cartridges. How deep is your pocket for starters. Scully
Personally I’d wait until we can all get out a bit more ( I know you won’t; I wouldn’t either as a novice ) and try as many different guns as possible. If it’s going to get muddy and is more of a tool than not, I’d opt for either a synthetic stocked pump or similar in an auto. Remington do a fabulous synthetic 870, Baikel MP 153 have a good reputation as a workhorse and won’t break the bank either, but a Benelli might, although they’re worth it. There are many more to choose from on the secondhand market, it all depends on your budget really, but I’d go for a 12 bore.
DUNKS
As said. Look at SXS none ejector, just cant give them away recently. Some lovely English guns available and at stupid prices.
Ultrastu
If its gonna be a hard working gun an i guess you don't really want to pay a load of money on a super nice gun .. I'd look for either a Turkish over under new or sh .New they go around £600 Or a semi auto with plastic stock .something like a hatsan or armsan .£400 They are light and easy to shoot well (less recoil ) The only down side to a sa.is that they need a bit more cleaning than an ou . But thats not too hard once you know how . 12 or 20 b 20b s are a bit lighter if that matters Edited February 13, 2021 by Ultrastu

Gunman
But a used Aya Yeoman/ Ugatachea etc if you want a side by side . Any number of used Spanish Italian O/U's about . Dont spend more than a couple of hundred pounds ,[ I picked up a no named Italian non ejector O/U for £80 for someone to use as a "tractor Gun "] then LEARN to use the it , then when you have you are better suited to knowing what you need . I would not buy a auto , if you are a novice , to many problems and the safety aspect is a factor . You need to talk to a gun dealer who will best advise you when you have explained what you want , he will allow you to handle a few guns , and you can then decide what will suit you best . If you can take someone with you who knows a little more than you may do yourself .
