samboy
Hi gang. A shooting pal of mine who is quite intelligent is trying to tell me that if you fill a jug with hot black instant coffee and leave end of barrels to soak this will help free the stuck choke. Is this a wind up ?. Thanks all.
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, while I don't dispute this I would soak in WD 40 clean off and use a hair dryer on high heat or a hot air gun,
Gordon R
Stick the end of the barrels in diesel for a day or two or Coca Cola.

bluesj
WD or diesel for 24 hours if that doesn't work boiling water and the cold a few times the boiling water and spray wd inside the choke should see it moving, it may take a few attempts. Ultrastu
I use wd 40 on my guns all the time on the blued barrels .the only effect it has on the blueing is to make it deeper and better .protecting from water and rust . Coke and coffee are acidic and tend to strip the blueing off . As does getting blood on a barrel .

If you have a plastic bead, remember to take it off before soaking in diesel.
DUNKS
I do think your mate is wrong. Best penetrating oil is 50/50 atf and paraffin. .
Gordon R
I wasn't aware of the effect of Coca Cola on blueing. I have used it on about a dozen ratchets and ratchet spanners with great effect. Even Asda's own rubbish cola works.

A mate took the bluing of his "well used" AYA No. 2, he did get it reblued and the smithy did say it was more than likley the WD40
