Walker570
Yes, ours went up about £800. Bring back the Poll Tax where everyone pays their fair share. About half a dustbin of rubbish to pick up once every two weeks and a two weekly collection of glass bottles (no comment there). Once in a blue moon the verges are brushed clean and the grass is cut on the verges. There are potholes up every lane leading to our village which I have to avoid even with the Landy and have been like that for months. Icy weather then a truck drives through the village and drops a bucket full at each junction but fails to put any down the two steep hills leading up here. Yep, bring back the poll tax. Scully
We have no street lights, no mains sewerage, our roads are never gritted, and we pay a surcharge for the clean up following Fair Week. 🙂
Jaymo
The discount to band A to D band homes is yet to be applied to Council Tax bills according to our local authority- it says it on the accompanying letter that we received. Yep, bring back the poll tax. yes the poll tax was much better because the great unwashed simply dropped off the electoral register to avoid having to pay. Labour could never put up with that happening because the unwashed normally voted for Labour. Maggie's poll tax plan was brilliant in its concept but thwarted by somebody called Jeremy Corbin who organised the poll tax riots Labour has been running a voting scam for years where fake names are registered on the electoral register (nobody checks! - disgraceful really) and those fake names get converted into postal votes. The scale of it is eye watering in some of the London Boroughs Also Eastern Europeans when they arrive here are very keen to get on the electoral register because it is needed for credit checks and to open mobile accounts, bank accounts, credit cards etc. But they don't de-register when they go home. There lies the problem, collecting the tax from people who never existed or don't live there anymore

In Paris, in the 17me Arrondissment I got my bins emptied at 5.30am every day. And the refuse men took them out and took them back in. Bus fare at a flat 1.70 Euro a ticket (regardless of the distance travelled if you stayed on the same bus you boarded) and the taxe d'habitation aka poll tax was maybe 200 Euro a year and once over age sixty you didn't pay it anyway. But I'm just happy here in Tory run Leicestershire paying £1600 a year and having to now only wheel my bin onto the pavement fortnightly. Soon no doubt they'll even be having me wheel it to the tip for them. Edited March 23, 2022 by enfieldspares
