ME
OK, so last week I got done for speeding and have decided to buy a 4x4 instead. I really want a diesel and something that is pleasurable to drive as I do a few miles travelling around. My missus already has a RAV4 so I dont want another one. (and it is a birds car really) So the criteria is * diesel * automatic * reasonable MPG * around £10k * not too "gay" looking * reliable Do your best chaps.... twelvebore
Pajero - same as myself, 2.8 TDi, auto, fully stuffed (climate control, electric everything, adjustable suspension, 4WD on the move, diff locks, etc. etc) and 28 mpg. or Toyota Land Cruiser same as my son-in-law. I can't believe what he does to that car off-road and it still manages to stay in one piece.

Not the Amazon the smaller one. Out of my price range at the mo though...

honda chris
i would say isuzu trooper. good mpg, fast enough, big enough with out being the size of the patrol. i ve had both the 3.0td and the 3.5 v6 and they are great, you can pick a lowmilage one up for good money. if size aint an issue then the nissan patrol but if your looking to spend 10k it will be a few years old. i chopped my trooper in form a ford ranger. its good but lacking the auto and a little hasher on the ride. i would give nissan navara's and l200's a miss a few mates have them and have had nothing but trouble and parts cost a small fortune just my 2 pence worth. regards chris

fusion
dont go for l200 i have one for work has poor turning circle drinks fuel as if were free only good point is that it is comfy to drive. You must be talking about the older model l200. I have a new 07 model for work, and it really is the business both on and off the road. The turning circle is now the best in it's class and is also great on fuel even when towing.

I wouldnt entertain another pickup type 4x4 again. The ride was awful and it was horrible to drive even with the power chip.

When I had my 03 Animal I was a member of the L200 forum. They have a thread on there about altering the turning circle. I did it to mine, it is just a case of winding in two bolts. It took 5 mins a side and made a BIG difference.

BSA Shaun
Hilux or L200?
njc110381
Hilux or L200? I'd say just that, but without the question mark at the end. Both are great trucks. The turning circle of any long vehicle is a little on the large side, you just have to know how to drive the thing properly. I doubt you'll get a new shape crew cab for under £10K, but the old one is fine. I have a 2000 model L200 4life with 95k on the clock for sale for £5k, it has a couple of small dings in the tail gate but nothing major. For £10k you should get something pretty tidy, and with the chip upgrade they're plenty quick enough.
al4x
A lot depends how much you drive it, what you need to work out is if you want a small car like 4x4 or a larger 4x4 or a pickup. If it doubles up as a family car and you do a reasonable mileage you may not want the pickup. I'd actually suggest a shogun sport if you want a well equipped comfy vehicle with a better ride than a pickup
