sam triple
Well no sooner have the crops been cut the “travelling “ community have started hare coursing, a mate text me yesterday evening saying they’d been up on the farm where he works , now not wanted a repeat of last year where almost every weekend people were running dogs across his bosses land , ( one Sunday afternoon we had a hare run between us followed by 2 dogs and 5 “ travellers” in pursuit very nearly turned ugly ), the police were brilliant in the way they responded but as usual by the time they’d arrived the #holes had gone , now his boss has told my mate to shoot all the hares , so there’s nothing for them to come onto his land for , which I kind of understand but I’m also a bit sad it’s had to come to this as I like seeing them when I’m up there ! Scully
That’s exactly the reason we are sometimes asked to shoot any hares we see. Very sad state of affairs.

TIGHTCHOKE
It has been done before and it will be done again because it is the one thing that works and keeps the scum off other peoples land.
ShootingEgg
It's a shame that it has to come to removing the hare population for this to stop. I know of pockets of land with hare on but I don't talk to anyone other than the land owners about it. Atleast then there is a chance they won't be found. yates
I think that this so sad. The hare is very evocative and very much a big part of the countryside. I wonder why the antis don’t protest against this in the travelling communities camps😏
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, thanks Sam, it happens a lot in the vale and along the Ridgeway, there's so many 1000s of acres it's difficult to catch them, there are very few hares on my friends farm this year, we had 2 visits last year but they disappeared before police arrived, police caught some a few years ago and went to court but got their own back by burning out a huge straw bale stack on my friends farm, lucky it was sold, Just now, oldypigeonpopper said: Hello, thanks Sam, it happens a lot in the vale and along the Ridgeway, there's so many 1000s of acres it's difficult to catch them, there are very few hares on my friends farm this year, we had 2 visits last year but they disappeared before police arrived, police caught some a few years ago and went to court but got their own back by burning out a huge straw bale stack on my friends farm, lucky it was sold, How many PW members know if you have a dedicated police country watch team in your area,?? I clear most of the hares from one of my permissions, I only really clear them from fields that are visible from the roads . Shooting them gives me no pleasure, but it's the only way to stop the travellers from damaging fields with 4x4 . A have a mate that has a permission in Nottingham. That farm is crawling with hares . The farmer has two travellers that have been paying him very generously for years , to be able to run their dogs on his land . The main benefit , is that other travellers stay away from that farm. sam triple
Bloke on neighbouring estate tried to pay of them seemed to make things worse . So that’s not an option here
