Hmmmmm??? Well they issued mine with no problems in late January 22.  I just wrote in the name of my Dr and the Practise address on the application form.

Anyone else in Leicestershire had the same?

They issued it in January but when did it run out?

My application went in and then in the first week of January I had to re do it all due to an error, so the application went in first week of Jan and as is normal with Leics it never touched the sides and the Cert was issued late Jan.

so what month did you first send your renewal forms in?

GP reports were implemented nationwide on the 20th October 2021 when the Home Office published the statutory guidance for police on firearms licensing.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/statutory-guidance-for-police-on-firearms-licensing

The statutory guidance was issued on the 20 Oct 2021, and it became law on 1 November 2021.

That's why I don't know how walker managed to get his renewal in January 2022 without filling the new doctors medical proforma in, unless he put his first renewal application in before 1 November 2021?

December.  It got re submitted in first week of January.   Obviously they did not consider a form necessary then.  Maybe next time in five years,  if we are still allowed to have firearms and I am still considered fit to have one at 87 years of age, perhaps there will be a test for senility by then. :yay:

Looks like you got away with it, you must have friends in high places. :)

your next renewal in 5 years time will require the new doctors medical proforma, as you say gawd knows what else we will have to comply with.

You think I'll make it then:good:

No, I doubt it with all them apple pies you are eating.

From the things I know of you on here it sounds like you are in good health and fairly fit and active for your age, so yes get the form filled in now for your renewal in 5 years time. :good:

Don't know if we have had/got one, but the way you're going it would not surprise me if you make it to-be the first PW centenarian. :drinks:

There is also this -

If you are using a third party company, like MedCert to do the report, the request for your medical records has to come from them, direct to your doctors surgery. You cannot get your records and send them over. It's to stop you editing your records before you send them.

And well worth the money rather than playing the infantile GP games?

A known fee, job done though I don't know what would be the scenario with ones like mine who refuse? Guessing they couldn't refuse from another medical professional?

The doctor can't refuse to comply. Medcert get you to sign a Subject Access Request, which they serve on the doctor. It doesn't matter whether your doctor is anti-shooting, he has to comply within a month or break the data protection laws. Once the records are obtained, Medcert provide a GP who will examine your records and, if applicable, state that there is no medical reason for a licence to be refused.

..... and what if the applicant hasnot approached his doctor about his condition?  What then?   Back to the VERY good old days when the local Bobby did the FAC/SGC applications because he knew or could soon find out about who he was dealing with. Been there done that.  BUT as in Dunblane one can slip through the net if the senior police do not do what the Bobbies on the beat are recomending.    Have a close look at Hungeford and the background.  A doctors cert would not have helped there.

I would suggest changing the application forms, remove all questions that require you to answer honestly, its clear that the questions asked regarding any previous or underlying medical conditions are just there to fill the page. If they dont trust you to fill in honestly then dont ask !

Thanks for the clarification on that point Gordon.

i lot of it is they dont want us to have them,

Certainly true sadly, will always be rear end cover agitated behind the scenes by lobbyists?

Won't concern me but I only give it 30 years and all gone except Dixon of the Dock and criminals by then society could really be in trouble?
