mgsontour
A little bit of a peculiar one here lads, but non-the-less if anyone can come up with the answer it has to be PW members! I've been reading very good reports on these Italian boots with a built in over gaitor attached for those of us who prefer leather boots than wellies for the field, so thought I'd treat myself to a pair so off I went today to try some on for size HIGHLAND HP OLIVE - CRISPI SPORT s.r.l So the bottom line is they are £350 and consist of what appears to be a cheap ankle boot with a glued on a thin rubber-ish lining with an abrasive resistant outer stuck to the boot which is zipped from the boot up to your calf and if I must say nowt special but it did get me thinking. . . . . all that is needed is to glue a good quality gaitor onto a good quality boot and hey presto a superior product in my eyes. So since I ain't got any idea of how to glue and what glue to use to bond the 2 items together I thought I'd ask you all for any help and then try it out on an old pair of boots? Thanks in advance and look forward to it Cheers
ditchman
think you might have to treat both surfaces first....and then maybe use a rubber glue and vulcanise it (a covered hot iron) i know virtually nothing about glues...this came into my head..... team tractor
Don’t they just use contact adhesive?

Dave at kelton
Don’t bother look at the Berghaus Attack Yeti gaitors and buy decent leather waterproof boots. Personally I prefer a high leg boot like Brandecosse 11” and good quality waterproof gaitors. Keep my feet dry all day as only as the standing water isn’t 11 1/4” deep. to answer the direct question use a good quality contact adhesive as cobblers do. Thanks and appreciate what your saying, but your water line of 11 1/4" is the same problem when the water goes up between the gaitor and into the top of the boot. The Crispi boots above solve the problem but I didn't rate the boot they use for a £350 price tag. I will take a look at your Berghaus gaitors and again thanks for the advice. PS. Just had a look at your Berghaus gaitors and the reviews and certainly worth a punt I'd reckon, do you actually use them? I use yeti gators, they are brilliant - and on reading your initial query was going to suggest them too. They are tricky to get on - leave them somewhere warmish for an hour or so before you fit them and then warm the rand up with a hair dryer to make it more pliable. I got them on. . . . . different methods of brute force did the trick after warming as you say. . . . Went out in them and they were bullet proof, totally waterproof in a downpour yesterday over sodden marshes BUT I reckon I got the wrong size as they were so tight they formed a crease in my boots across my toes so reckon for a size 11 boot I need XXL so have a pair of XL for sale, used once that would fit a size 9 to 10 boot if anyone wants them? Yes - according to this site you need XXL for UK size 11 https://www.outdoorgb.com/p/Berghaus_Yeti_Attak_Gore-Tex_Gaiters/

Bombproof! With a bit of cling film as a barrier I sealed a 15mm diameter hole.
