Our little farm shoot

Go easy on me ... my first ever GoPro and still working it out :) I bought this to film some rough shooting and working the dogs, and some little driven days I do.

This is my little DIY farm syndicate. It's not a big shoot by any stretch, it's on pretty flat land, and in the past we have always struggled to hold birds. In the past we would start out with bags of around 12 and by the end of the season be hitting 3-5 birds bagged.

This year, after little improvements time after time, we are currently on a return of 30%, averaging around 20 most days, with a few more days to go. We only put down about 400 birds and shoot about 9 days.

Due to being flat we don't normally get the high birds of some shoots, but we do some some long crossers. I was particularly happy with the final bird I took.

I took 6 birds for 9 shots on this day with my little SP 20 bore :) ... the only bird I missed was a crosser. Looking at the video... I have to mention, that I noticed I "swing through" the gun line ... the other gun is bordering on 100 yards away as I have laser measured it, but regardless I winced when I watched it back and it is not a shot I would repeat.

Aside from that, was a nice day out for all, I think we finished up on 17 birds picked with only 1 getting away unpicked.

@Big Alwas king enough to recommend me the video software to edit the various clips together so I hope I have done them justice.

Well done, you've learned a valuable lesson and enjoyed some good shooting.

So much better to have the camera off the gun.   :good:

Yes the camera is much better head mounted … I sold my shotkam it wasn’t what I had envisioned for filming the shooting and dog work … this however is ideal :)

Well done Lloyd you was right about it being flat not like being back home you had some nice crossers pens are looking in good shape to 👍

Cheers, I attended Ammerdown the other day as a guest, my mate let me shoot some drives.

The last drive they were storming off the hill, the birds were almost untouchable.

The dream of shooting these big estates isn’t a fun reality when you can’t hit any of those high birds 🤣

Great footage Lloyd, and I’ve had my GoPro for the past 8 years now and still working perfectly.

I first saw the one I have, working when I was shooting geese over decoys in Montrose Scotland.

The goose guide had the GoPro set up on a spike, on the perimeter of the decoys and would activate it via his IPhone as the geese were coming into the decoys.

I was so impressed with the footage, I purchased mine the same day in Montrose Argos, and used it the week I was shooting geese.

I too had mine mounted on the head strap and very easy to operate, and also have a hinged mount, which can fit over a jacket chest pocket if you don’t want to wear a head strap.

I used it every year I went to Scotland in November, and it’s great to look back at some of the best bits and bad bits.

It will be perfect for you, working the dogs and will be nice to look back on the footage over the years.

Always feels good when you get a few birds after helping to get the shoot up and running, having  a dog would add to the day you would have given a dog few good retrieves.  Pleased to hear I am not the only one who talks to themself when on a peg .

Thanks for posting.

I've just seen this. Great job Lloyd! Your shoot is a similar size to ours - you pulled off some nice shots there, especially on the last drive.

I have subscribed to your channel so I dont miss any more.

Al, I don't know how you make such good video's, I've got some footage of a day out rabbiting, but I am a bit embarrassed as I swore in the video

I will have to advise caution lol ... young dog's first time out shooting rabbits and he went to put the rabbit down ... lucky he didn't and then delivered to hand lol

Maybe get in touch with o2 and explain the situation that you thought it was them and you where renewing (effectively telling them you where scammed) they may be able to help.
