nabbers
I'm moving into rented accommodation for a short time and want to be fairly low key about my shooting hobby. I'm clearing my gun collection and will be down to a Sxs 12G and a CZ455 .22LR. I haven't had the tape measure out yet, but I was wondering if the police would accept me using a break down cabinet? Ok for a the SxS I'm sure, but would they accept me getting the screw driver out on the rifle to separate the action from the stock? Rob85
Can't see why not, they want you to take the bolt out and store it separately anyway, so long as the parts are in the cabinet minus the bolt they shouldn't have anything to gurn about
TOPGUN749
I can’t see why guns shouldn’t be stored in pieces,I have kept bolts out of rifles separate. If anything it’s safer that way.

Security is YOUR responsibility, as long as you take reasonable precautions they will accept. A breakdown cabinet is perfectly acceptable. Genghis
I have a breakdown gun cabinet. It was approved before I’d purchased my first gun. I only own an over/under but I’m considering buying a semi-auto at some point as my second gun which would be more of a hassle to break down. Legally there’s nothing stopping me though so can’t see why they would have an issue with you. They’ll probably ask the usual “After a long day of shooting will you be bothered to get the screwdriver out to store the rifle safely?” So long as you give a firm “yes” then I don’t see what grounds they have to refuse. DUNKS
How about just asking?

Vince Green
Should be no problem at all. The answer will depend on which FEO you ask, as is always the case unfortunately.
ph5172
Is it a space thing or avoiding damage that you will need to put right
Dekers
There is no reason why not at all, but frankly, I wouldn't want to be taking a rifle apart every time I put it away.
