Colonoscopy

Had it done in my early 20's, put it down to IBS. Decent running, football training etc. Seemed to cure it for the most part. But the experience of the procedure was ok, thr magic juice wasn't great, a spreader plate would've been more use on me and a local farmer...

All in all, no pain when being done, the surgeon looked like he was driving an RC car which amused me. It was the resulting wind for a few day's that was murder. Afraid to **** half the time.

Worth getting done if in any doubt of gut health.

Was it just IBS then? What did they recommended post procedure?

Fibre gel drinks, buscopan for the wind ajd cramps, but for me personally I found a banana a day and regular exercise sends any discomfort, running to the loo etc out the window. I know that 6weeks or so after a running plan or similar it will start to flare up.

Just IBS which consists of 100s of separate complaints is used as a broad brush, tested for ceoliac disease and allergies too, found nothing. Good to gwt checked out.

Sign your dignity at reception, backside up, collect dignity on way out. Easy.

As mentioned my wife had the procedure last week. Despite having various investigations in the past she had been diagnosed with IBS for decades which only eased up for a handful of years after pregnancy. With that in mind she is well versed in all the  triggers, lifestyle requirements, foods to avoid and potions to take. Stress makes hers worse but she has been in so much relentless discomfort over the past few months we persuaded her to get a referral, during the initial consultation & examination the consultant thought something could be felt hence the colonoscopy during which no lurking aliens were found. She is now waiting to hear if she needs a CT scan.

Reading these has brought back some memories of my own experience. The "clean-prep" sachets the day before are a hell of an experience. by the 3rd sachet I was passing clear water...clean as a whistle!

Next shock in store was the consultant doing the procedure...he was the spitting image of that doctor/comedian on the chase program, thankfully it wasn't him, couldn't handle jokes while he's messing with the Holy of holies.

The aftermath was a bit uncomfortable, in the recovery room I forgot I still had no trunks on and dared to let slip a quiet one... left a wee mark of brown stained lube on the bedsheets 🤣.  The lady in the cubicle next to me must have been a seasoned veteran, she just went to town and blasted one ungodly flatule that sounded like the horn of Jericho, nobody batted an eyelid.

All they picked up was inflammation and put it down to IBS

Due to a none conclusive MRI scan, I had the full three , front ,back and throat. Not on the same day thank God nothing unusual found.
Following my collapse in December I had a CT  and a PET Scan which found my bone and blood cancer but confirmed that my prostrate is OK. It would appear that the best way to find out is to go in and look using the latest equipment.

While I was having it done my Docter said "dont worry dave, it's common to get an erection", I said that my name was not Dave to which he repliued"No-mine is". The old ones are always the best.

I thought you‘re supposed to reply:

“But I haven’t got an erection!”,

and the Doctor says, “No, but I have!”

🤣🤣🤣

Hello, I had the colon camera many many years ago after suffering stomach pain and grumble , nothing unduly was found so they asked about my life and circumstances over previous years and diagnosed it was traumatic stress from various events that happened, this led to the conclusion of IBS which can be a pain in the back side 🤔🙄😁, but on a serious note, the human body and what they now term as Stress can play out in different forms, it is worth looking back on your life if you are diagnosed with IBS, treatment is not foolproof, eg diets etc, with mine I have good days and some bad days but there maybe some truth in the song, Always look at the bright side of life,👍
