It's appears to be that the UK has largely followed a policy focused on the migrants themselves, the symptom rather than the cause.

Much of the foreign aid goes through Syria and Turkey. How can it be utilised to reduce some of causes of migration?

Faster processing and quicker repatriation or integration would reduce the financial burden. Safe routes (processing centre in Syria maybe?) could cut off the supply of business to the traffickers.

Explain how.

France will not accept them and we cannot force them to take them back.

The UK has followed a policy of just letting them in !

Few are sent back, so more and more make the journey, using a 3rd country like Rwanda had to fight its way through various human rights courts... Then labour made sure as soon as they got in, to cancel it

Are you beginning to see that we are being manipulated yet ?
You talk of repatriation ? Yet even if they get a deportation order, ANOTHER set of lawyers step in to stop that too.

You get a boat,

employ a load of big knuckle draggers,

Illegal immigrant lands on UK coast,

Said knuckle draggers, chucks illegal on boat using force if necessary,

Sail to France and boot illegal off, whether France likes it or not.

Simples 👌

24000 returned in 2023 is a start. The more these things are publicised the better the deterrent.

Rwanda achieved? Are you beginning to see that we are being manipulated to focus on the symptom. Lets pluck the race strings harder.

Now that sounds like a plan👍👍

If only it could be in an ideal world.

A breakdown of where they were returned to might help or hinder your argument, as would the accuracy of the stats..

Just where did race come into this. I and many others object to the sheer numbers and criminal elements. I don't care about race, colour or creed.

It's a dream for some. Fortunately civilisation took hold.

It's far more civilised than the current situation of terrorists and rapists walking UK streets, not to mention the scores of migrants including children and babies drowning attempting to illegally cross.

Those against it are nothing more than heartless virtue signallers who are putting their own image in front of the safety of other human beings. It makes me sick tbh.

Agreed It would and this for me is another part of the lack of transparency.

Race comes into it because parts of the media and some political groups weaponize immigration.

Here is an example.

And example of what? Legitimate concerns for fellow human beings, regardless of their race or where they come from?

A question for Oowee. Do you think the UK should bother with Passports? Because if you do, why do you think it's okay to allow anyone that jumps on a dinghy to wander around the UK totally unchecked or vetted?

I share the concern.

Terrorists and rapists will walk the streets of the UK even without immigration.

Agreed, but there will be far more if we allow anyone in without checks or vetting. I fail to see what race has to do with that?

Only by association. Linking all migrants as rapists and terrorists is part of the demonising and dehumanising by association, that is used by some to incite hatred.

Like saying English football supporters are hooligans.

There will always be those who want to use a situation to push their narrative. The vast majority of the uk shares my very legitimate concerns. Please point out anything I've said that has "bought race in to it"?

No where have I done that. I've pointed out the obvious for the hard of thinking, that allowing anyone from anywhere in the world to arrive here unvetted is very dangerous.

There's only one person that bought race up in this conversation and a hint is it's not me.

My point was simply that there are some parts of the media and some political groups that want to use the situation to stir up friction. Blanket statements about rapists and terrorists in the context of immigrants fuels that narrative. You have not mentioned race but unfortunately many will take that next step. Like the English are football hooligans.

I share the same concerns about unvetted arrivals.

Of course there are far right extremists who will hijack the situation for their own ends. Just like on the other side there are far left extremists who will scream racist at anyone having the same conversation.
