steve_b_wales
I've just purchased two boxes of the above to try out with my new (to me) Baikal Hushpower. I was 'surprised' at the price of £12 a box, although I admit that due to the amount of non subsonic cartridges I have, I haven't bought any for at least 10 years. I have a few boxes of non subsonic ones, that I bought off a mate years ago, and the price per box then was £7:65. 34 minutes ago, London Best said: Am I correct in thinking the the 3inch subsonic contain as much as 24 grams of shot? But I thought I had seen an instructor at Lakeside Sporting teaching youngsters with a Yildiz .410 and when I looked what he was using it said 24g on the 3 inch cases. Could be my eyesight. There's some old threads on here suggesting some may have short cork wads to gain some room. I think with my home loads I could get 21g of 7.5 shot in. Ultrastu
I've shot thos 24 grm bornaghi carts. They are ridiculously quiet in a hushpower. 410 but they don't kill birds beyond 15 yds as the shot is only doing around 700 fps at the muzzle

Ultrastu
Exactly .you better shooting an 11 grm load which is plenty quiet enough but at least the shot that hits the bird is going fast enough to do damage and kill the bird .I often use 11 grm hull clay and game carts .they travel around 1200 fps and ive dropped pige at 25 yds plus .but to be fair 20 yds is a more realistic range for them but at least they kill and they are cheaper also . Iv never shot any so can't comment but I have seen data for reloading them
Cranfield
You will pay extra for Hushpower cartridges in 4.10 and 20ga. Having used both in Hushpower guns, I have found the difference in noise between the Hushpower/subsonic cartridge and a normal felt wad cartridge to be very small. If you are going to be doing a lot of shooting with a Hushpower, its worth bearing this in mind. There are threads on here from the past on this subject.
