Welcome to the REAL world.

Indeed. I have a few boxes of non subsonic ones, that I bought off a mate years ago, and the price per box then was £7:65.

Am I correct in thinking the the 3inch subsonic contain as much as 24 grams of shot? I am sure I have seen them somewhere.

These contain 18grms of #6 which looking at websites like Just Cartridges, is all that's available.

I think you’re mistaken

most I’ve seen are 19.5 grams lead  and no way to get 24 grams of lead into one if you want powder and wad aswell

apparently your not mistaken

my apologies I should have done more research 🤔👍👍

Perhaps I am.
But I thought I had seen an instructor at Lakeside Sporting teaching youngsters with a Yildiz .410 and when I looked what he was using it said 24g on the 3 inch cases. Could be my eyesight.

How old are you?  😉 You can indeed get 23/24 gram 3" .410 cartridges. There's some old threads on here suggesting some may have short cork wads to gain some room. I think with my home loads I could get 21g of 7.5 shot in.

Ancient

If you could point me towards a commercially available product I’ll happily give them a try

would you be kind enough to forward a link I’d much appreciate it

many thanks 👍

There an old thread about a Cheddite cart but these are the ones I've seen advertised for sale - https://www.bornaghi.it/natural/silenziata-24

For sale here: https://newavon-arms.co.uk/shop/shotgun-cartridges/bornaghi-410-no-7-1-2-silenziata/

A bit of a search shows Malmo Guns list the Cheddites https://www.malmoguns.com/cheddite-cartridges/

Exactly .you better shooting an 11 grm load which is plenty quiet enough  but at least the shot that hits the bird is going fast enough to do damage and kill the bird .I often use 11 grm hull clay and game carts .they travel around 1200 fps and ive dropped pige at 25 yds plus .but to be fair 20 yds is a more realistic range for them but at least they kill and they are cheaper also .

Ah quiet but almost useless

I’ll stick with the 2 inch for the close stuff thanks for your reply 😊👍

The 24 gram loads are "sub sound" not subsonic and are sold for shooting point blank quail over young dogs as is popular in Italy they are claimed to give a very low report in a standard 410 as low as 75db . Iv never shot any so can't comment but I have seen data for reloading them

You will pay extra for Hushpower cartridges in 4.10 and 20ga.
Having used both in Hushpower guns, I have found the difference in noise between the Hushpower/subsonic cartridge and a normal felt wad cartridge to be very small.
If you are going to be doing a lot of shooting with a Hushpower, its worth bearing this in mind.

There are threads on here from the past on this subject.
