Smokersmith
Folks, It appears that in the next hour, the lava flow from the breaking eruption 🌋 in Iceland will start to consume the town of Grindavik. I was fortunate enough to see the ‘tourist’ eruption that happened in the middle of nowhere in July’23, but this one will be no fun for the residents. Odd to know that roads I’ve driven on are already cracked beyond belief due to seismic activity, and that those roads themselves will soon be history. There was already a fatality this week when a gent was consumed by a crack that opened beneath him. Must be a surreal moment for the residents. Thoughts and strength to them all. I agree with your sentiments, but everyone there knew the risks (in fact knew it was a certainly - only really a matter of 'when' and 'to what extent'). I have also seen lava/volcanoes/frequent minor earth movements (in Costa Rica) and it is something the locals accept and take in their stride. Buildings are built accordingly to withstand the frequent, but generally light tremors that occur daily in places. The Costa Ricans (like the Icelanders) have built a bit of a tourist industry around it. chrisjpainter
Yeah, I've been following this on the Iceland Cricket Team's Twitter account. The town's been evacuated and more lava is flowing from another fissure too. Decidedly unnerving
Scully
A mate of my sons is over there currently. He’s a volcanologist and is living the dream! 🙂

old man
No doubt our citizens will be expected to cut back more to try and nullify this eruption?
