JDog
The wind was forecast to be 15mph. It was 20mph gusting to 30mph. I had to get out on some very poor rape. No time for watching, straight to my chosen spot. The pigeons were great on the wind. I took the semi auto and shot well above my pay grade picking 26 for thirty five shots including the first young one of the year. old'un
think you are the only person shooting any at the minute….well on pigeon watch anyway. Well done on getting out and shooting a few, talking of young birds, we had a young pigeon on the bird table about 3 weeks back, first one I have seen this year. marsh man
Short and sweet as they say , that ground look as if it was very wet in the Winter months and overall I cannot see any records broken when they get out and combine the Winter sown crops , some of our rape was taken up and replanted with a cover crop. As for the young one , early but not unusual for the first week in June as I saw a young un feeding in my garden a few weeks ago, carry on the good work and THANKS for posting . Deadeyealan
Excellent jd and very good cartridge to kill rate, no chance of running out with those figures. 😄
Old Boggy
As MM said, that ground had been pretty wet, but is very dry now. Very poor rape is an understatement. All the rape around here has done extremely well with the pods already drying and turning brown. I can see an early harvest here. As also said, you seem to be one of the only out there get any pigeons at all, which is obviously down to constant reconnaissance, so good on you and many thanks for posting. pigeon controller
Well done JDog, were the birds feeding on the rape or chickweed? I have a similar field but no birds.

Wilts#Dave
I must admit Jdog, you’ve done well finding those and that shot count very impressive….they’re such resourceful birds and will find food in the least likely spots.

In contrast to your pour rape, I attach a couple of photos taken just now of two fields a few hundred yards from my house. One where the rape has done very well and turning brown and on the other side of the lane where a field of oats is looking good. Having said that, you have had good sport whereas I will have to wait until harvest. OB Edited June 9 by Old Boggy
