Cost of ammo going down??

Recommended Posts

Recently, I have been pleasantly surprised at the cost of some ammo is going down, Just Carts now have their CSP Lites at £265 per thou, they were £278 per thou.

Most brands have gone down, but .410 has sadly gone up.

Could this be because of the pending steel/lead ban malarkey??

Hello, I think they have adjusted their prices as maybe a decline in people shooting , ???? JC were giving a special deal if you bought 2000 , if you and a few friends shoot together be it clays, pigeons or on a game shoot it could be way to save on cartridge costs

There is a very good mark up on shotgun cartridges mind you.....

Of course there is, the dealers always claim they’re a loss leader but I never buy that…..they ramped the prices up and got carried way with the regular increases once they realised people would just pay the money. It’s about time they stabilised / dropped a little if demand tails off.

what is a very good mark up? You know that how? can you prove that?

Just cartridges may have a good markup as my local supplier prices are always less that just cartridges, I was reloading before the price and availability of components became such that had to stop as now cheaper to. buy the cartridges especially for clay shooting.

All the time the ukraine war continues doubt the prices will come down.

The guy from Just Cartridges is on YouTube talking about cartridge prices and how the Ukraine situation is affecting cartridge components and therefore price. He did forecast that as Fiocchi did not increase their prices earlier this year, they are due a big increase before the end of this year. As Fiocchi now seem to own most of the other competitors,  they could keep their prices of brand name cartridges down, making their profits off the other brands that they own  ?

Just Cartridges have always been a lot more expensive than other retailers and you also have the £20 delivery charge on top.

As an example, Fiocchi F3s 7.5 28g plastic:

Local RFD - £291 per 1000

J/C - £311 per 1000 or £331 delivered.

I'm not sure if it's because J/C are based near London and people are used to being ripped off with London rates for things but £20 more than the average RFD is a bit OTT.

I have used several thousand F Blues and previously F Blacks, without ANY issues. In fact they have been some of the best cartridges that I have shot in a while. I did try some of their 'budget ' cartridges a couple of years ago, they were bloomin awful, dirty, punchy and poor performance.  I switched to Cheddite.  I went back to Fiocchi earlier this year, solely on cost.

But now they are made here by Express things appear to be going wrong.

I have only been shooting them for around 10 months, but I have not encountered any issues, and as far as I know, neither have any of the others I shoot with. IF I do, it will be on here. I have heard of misfires and the guns being blamed, but I regularly remove, clean and lightly lubricate the pins on my guns.

We typically saved 25% to 35% buying straight from the manufacture 20000 upwards for our small roving clay club.
