The Tories clearly lost the plot. We all hope that this lot will be a plus. Time will tell but a great start. If you think this is a great start, you have bumped your head. My predictions : 1. jealous and spiteful taxation which will stifle growth and reduce economic output. With the highest incidence of taxation (following covid) there is yet more to come but Labour are incapable of delivering value for money. The tax take will be spaffed. People will be less inclined to bother or strive - indeed, why bother if the government will lift the majority of your earnings out of your pocket or pay you to watch telly and pop out more state dependant kids. 2. the plans they have to regulate the rental sector will backfire and there will be a shortage of rental housing and spiralling rents. They cannot build the housing stock they claim to want to build in the time available. Absolute lack of practical insight here. 3. we will get inflation under Labour as sure as night follows day. They do not do either growth or financial prudence and their plans for public sector pay and minimum wage will backfire. Anyone who knows anything about inflation will tell you it is the root of all evil. Give someone a 6% pay rise but real world inflation runs at 9%, they’re actually 3% worse off. There ought to be interest rate cuts by the end of the year (but these look increasingly minimal / doubtful). My tip, if rates go below 5% then fix for 5 years. 4. Foreign policy - well, I’ve never met a true lefty who will give a Jew an even break. Labour are increasingly subservient to a well organised and motivated religious minority now. 5. Free speech - it’s gone under the radar but immediately doing away with the planned academic freedom / free speech act - that’s a massive red flag. 6. Increased government, increased cost of government and more people dependant on the state - just how they like it. If I was more mobile, I’d skip out of the country for 5 years. Edit Public sector pay / pensions, the NHS and the drain of mass immigration will drag us to a tipping point sooner or later. The only thing to do is try and insulate yourself as best as possible. When the drain of the state exceeds the tax take, all borrowing is maxed out the ‘haves’ refuse to keep paying for everyone else, well that’s going to get interesting. There is argument for creating a virus that will with better certainty iron out everyone over 85 😉 especially when you look at the pensions black hole and how 75% of NHS resources are applied to people in the last 3 years of life. The lefties in Canada are big on assisted suicide - watch this space. Edited September 7 by Mungler

oowee
The current tax does not equal current spend. Every service is underfunded and broken. We need growth. Labour have a plan will it all work out? I doubt it but its one plan more than we had. We are making good progress so far. Disappointing that Labour are sticking to the austerity ticket. How many Britons wanted to move to Lithuania and get a job? Compared to how many Lithuanians wanted to move to Britain ? Hardly a level playing field was it? No Brits were forced to move back to Britain after Brexit. They could apply for residents status and several of my friends did. Ah so now you are moving the goalposts. They weren't forced to move back they chose to. There has never been free health care in Spain. My friends have always had to have private medical insurance in Spain. And so would you and I when we went on holiday. Brexit did not change anything there. That's just another spurious remainer red herring.

oowee
No it never explained nett migration neither did anything that fell out Farage's mouth. It would be interesting to know what number of Brits have returned and been counted and what number are likely to return. The numbers will be huge.
