BBC on new gun control laws

Recommended Posts

Our laws for law abiding folks owning guns are some of the most stringent in Europe. What we need is an office fit to carry out the duty in a timely, efficient and responsible manner. Whether that be at county or national level.

Maybe they should clamp down on ghe number of illegal guns in the country. 🤷

How are the police qualified to assess whether applicants should have access to firearms?
Also, I thought there was already markers on an applicants medical record alerting their GP to the fact they owned firearms.

Bang on.

But this '' Maybe they should clamp down on the number of illegal guns in the country. 🤷 ''  Is a separate and unconnected argument. The process for gun regulation of individuals works.

I had need to request my records (not firearm related) and there is indeed a marker on mine. It says I have a firearm certificate. In fact I have only a SGC.

not one word in the BBC article about the Police failing that result in the shotguns being returned or how no action was taken when he assaulted someone prior the plymouth shootings.  Just a biased article.

Maybe the left are so bent that they consider that "normal"

Something that might be worth people noting is that medical people can see the marker and wrongly assume what you shoot and your profession.

True. But as it is my medical practice that also signed off the medical form for my SGC renewal (at quite a reasonable fee) then it is beyond doubt that they would have noted my records. It’s what they’re required to do. We have no say in the matter.

They are not, neither are they qualified to deal with those who suffer with a mental illness, but they are called upon to do that daily. Doctors are very reluctant to say that someone is fit to have firearms, their very valid reason being, anyone can 'flip' at any given moment. A normally sane person can be pushed too far, to the extent they will use the firearms they have access to.

Indeed.
We really are in a mess. We have politicians who know they are powerless to combat knife and drug crime but constantly deceive a gullible public into claiming they can via legislation, a firearms licensing system administered by an authority which doesn’t want us to own firearms lest they be liable if someone they authorise goes loopy, but resists all suggestions it is removed from them, and a medical system which won’t sanction mental fitness lest they too are held responsible. 🤷‍♂️

Yes. Telling that they take the time to print Luke Pollard’s opinion once again.
