Book Recommendations

There's not much on the TV that interests me, and I'm in need of a book to keep me entertained. I've read a couple by Robert Harris, just finishing Simon Reeve's autobiography, and a Chris Yates book. Is there anything you'd recommend?

Tom Sharpe Vintage Stuff or any of the Wilt series.

Depends what you’re into: 
Michael Palin Diaries. Stephen Fry autobiographies. Terry Pratchett Discworld novels. Clarkson books. Lyn Macdonald WW1 series. James or Helen Rebanks books. 
The Glass Castle. 
The SAS books which ‘Rogue Hero’s’ are based on; but be aware they aren’t as macho or heroic as the tv dramas. 
Let us know what you’re interested in and folk will try and point you in the general direction.

Thanks, gents. I've read and enjoyed the Wilt books in the past. My interests are fairly wide but could do with something to make me laugh....I'll have a look at the Clarkson books. I also enjoy the Rebus books, Wilbur Smith etc.

I do enjoy the Clarkson (Diddly Squat Farm) books - but be aware that each book really just the collected articles he writes for his paper column (Sunday Times?) contract.  As such the 'book' is really very lightweight with just a couple of dozen newspaper columns and in big print with plenty of drawings.  You can read the lot in a couple of evenings.

Entertaining, but very expensive for recycled paper articles.

Was about to mention that; it is most annoying as my kids get me his latest DS books each Christmas, and even though I’m a fan, I don’t feel they’re particularly good value for money. 
His other ST column compilation books however, where he rants about everything and everyone, are good value for money, and there’s quite a few of them.

My feelings as well.  I do get them as I like the whole DS 'project', as well as enjoying Clarkson's writing - but if you didn't know what you were buying, you might be quite disappointed (to put it mildly!)

John Nicholls the navigator that was imprisoned in the gulf War has written several  I'm currently reading tail end Charlie which is excellent.I have enjoyed them all though.

I'm the resident librarian at work, I kid you not, quite a few books stashed in draws, few lads reading the same series of books David Baldacci is a favourite of mine.

The Lincoln Lawer series is very good.

Then it's just if a book takes my fancy at a charity shop or anywhere else, including the library 😁

Clarkson diddly squat books if ive no hunting books to read i got the 4 of them from charity shops the last one i paid a £5 for and thought it was expensive till i saw it in W H Smiths at £22

'An Officer not a Gentleman' is a good read, an autobiography written by Mandy Hickson, one the UK's 1st female fast jet pilots. 

'Typhoon' by Mike Sutton - another RAF pilot autobiography.

If you like well crafted police procedurals, try K E Cullen's books, available on Kindle or paperback from Amazon.
