Well at least the S G is monthly , unlike the Shooting Times is weekly , the last time I looked at a copy of the S Ts in Tesco's it was £3 something which make them over £13 a month , like you they go back from where they belong , the other week I was looking at the Gundog magazine and that was nearly £13 .Way out of my league . JKD Posted Thursday at 21:28 Report Share Posted Thursday at 21:28 1 minute ago, marsh man said: The amount of people who still buy these magazines must be getting less and less so will they soon merge into one magazine or call it a day , Well I only bought magazines for about the first 4 years from when I started shooting. 2 years regularly,,,, 3rd year occasionally, the 4th year I'd flick through the pages and only bought it if something caught my attention. That was a decade ago,,,, there's better reading and info in the shooting forums, IMHO 👍😆 Perhaps that is the reoccurring theme 🤷♂️
Miserableolgit Posted Thursday at 21:41 Report Share Posted Thursday at 21:41 I no longer subscribe to any shooting magazines but took out a sub to Scribehound last year, but some of the content on there is loosing my interest.
steve_b_wales Posted Thursday at 22:23 Report Share Posted Thursday at 22:23 I only have Rifle magazine and Gun Mart magazine, both by direct debit which saves a few £ off the issue price.

Old Boggy Posted Friday at 09:45 Report Share Posted Friday at 09:45 A few years ago I was speaking to a regular contributor of Sporting Gun ( cannot remember his name but he was a taxidermist and wrote about pigeon shooting among other topics) who was told by the editor/s to either accept a 50% cut in his writer’s charge or cease to contribute. He made the right decision and is no longer writing for them. I know that subscriptions are such a small % of the magazines income, most of which comes from advertising so, shortsightedly they are not too concerned about falling subscriptions. However, the cost of advertising must be based upon the magazine’s circulation, so it is therefore apparent that this ever increasing downward spiral results in fewer adverts/ articles (far less content and thinner mags) and higher prices. As said, I’m surprised that people are still buying them at such prices. If it’s information that’s needed on field sports (or a host of other subjects) what can be better than to browse this great forum of ours.
