Fleabag
Got lasered last year by a traffic cop on the side of a motor way at Taunton on the M5, He was the passenger and was pointing the laser by hand past his driver through the window at me traveling with lights on in outside lane with I would say forty or so cars in front or on my near side, I was on cruse control at 76.5. Every one was breaking except me as I thought that was not excessive, got pulled about a mile up the road and told I was traveling at 96 miles per hour. I said I was not and would not except the £60 fine and 3 points as I was not guilty of the speed indicated and would go to court instead. Big mistake, when it came to court I was found guilty and fined £350 and had 5 points put on my license, asked why the courts would not listen or except my statement of truth, and was told by the magistrate that the pro laser 11 is a home office approved calibrated device and could not be wrong, there for I most have in fact been traveling at the indicated speed. Bol**cks. so many of these devices have been proven time and time again to be inaccurate and can be affected by numerous events including the operator moving, car headlights reflecting off other cars and so forth. I have heard since that laser guns in some force areas have been suspended due to inaccuracies, Has any body else been unfairly treated by the courts in these circumstances
berettaman1
Yep, I was done a week last sunday, I followed a old bloke and his wife for allmost a mile and half into, then through a smallish village at all times he did not exceed 25mph, Upon coming to the road leading out of the place the old chap suddenly braked, I thought he was stopping, and pulled out and overtook,! big mistake. I have received a fixed speeding penalty notice I have to pay £60.00 and have 3 penalty points on my clean licence for doing --- 36mph . ******* just another stealth tax by this scumbag goverment whose MP,s claim thousands of pounds in "Expences?" all the time to excuse there **** performance as ?our servants!! monkeyjaimz
I heard about a speed gun that humberside police use that was reported to clock a brick wall doing 18mph!
bob300w
Unles you have a bank balance like Paul MacCartney, I would just accept it and move on, by your own admission you were speeding. I would imagine that this case would be like challenging DNA evidence, vey expensive and achieve little. Sorry to be such little help, but finding others who also feel that they were not doing the speed that they were charged with is not going to help your case. al4x
Fleabag, sadly I think you may be one of the rare ones. You get so many people trying to avoid speeding fines by all manner of ways see the pepioo site that magistrates are pretty sick of it. So the more you claim innocence the more they tend to slap you hard. In your case sounds like it was a different car they got but its very hard to tell. BM1 you were done bang to rights weren't you or were you obeying the 30 limit and were done unjustly
Evil Elvis
I was traveling at 100+ one day and my radar detector went mental, i couldn't see why but slowed to 70mph, I pootled along for about another 500-600 yards and could see the rossers under a bridge, just as i saw then, a granada scorpio came hacking past me, saw them, and then slammed the anchors on in front of me, i had to take evasive action to miss him. Then I got a summons for 92, I told the court the story, but instead of saying that I had my radar detector on i told them I had already traveled that road once today and knew they were there. The 2 officers maintain that they had seen no such event and i was definitely doing 92....B*ll****!!!!!!!! Lying B*st*rds!!! £150 fine and 4 points!!! Ok yes I know what some of you are thinking, I deserved it anyway as I WAS speeding, and yes you are probably right, but I was no way doing 92 when I was radared I was bang on 70. The truth is the police lie to bolster thier stealth taxes....end of.
Dirty Harry
Elvis, Speed guns work at over 1000 yards so they may have got you while you were slowing down. And yes we have to ticket lots of speeders to pay for the booze at the Christmas Party Harry

Dr W
Speeding on normal roads is one thing speeding on motorways is quite a different matter as everyone is doing 80 -90 mph anyway. Just in case anyone is reading this, this is in no way an admission that I speed (well I won't be doing in the future as the golf is going and I can't afford to drive the Classic at speed)
berettaman1
OK I admit I was death on 4 wheels for doing 36 mph overtaking an old numpty who was driving very very slowly, It was 5 past one on a sunday I was on my way home from a clay shoot, If I had been in a hurry I would have taken the village bypass, but I was happy to tootle through said village on a steady run home. I dont blame the police they are just doing what they are told to do.What I do object to is the poor driving of the old chap in front of me caused me to accelerate from 25 mph to 36mph to get past its just another excuse by the goverment and loony lefty councils to use motorists to be a cash cow, for more fines to pay for you all know what for.If I was a young bloke again I would emmigrate with my wife and kins to New Zealand, or Australia, or The USA. cheers. Evil Elvis
Speed guns work at over 1000 yards so they may have got you while you were slowing down. MY detector picks them up at up to 4000m, however, im 99% certain they didnt get me when i was slowing down as they were round a bend under a bridge, the advantage of the detector i have is that it can pick up lasers even if they arent pointing at you....saved me at least 5-6 tickets. Mutley
Until some Muppet comes up with a foolproof radar for speeding and the Police don't bull **** the evidence!! (I know most don't but the sad truth is until they all don't, in these circumstances they will ALL be tard with the same brush!!) I think it's fare to say we are going to get done at some point or other....It's just a case of WHEN?
taz24
We all speed at some point or another so why moan when you do get caught? Just think of it as payment for the tens of times you did not get caught. I hate being done for speeding as much as the next guy but if you speed you are breaking the law just because you get away with it most of the time does not make it right. taz. So you were to close to him then or you were not paying attention. Which was it? You said the car was going slow and then braked so why when you overtook him did you have to accelerate and go over 30mph? Harry
